How many units are needed to graduate?
  • To graduate from ODLH, your son or daughter needs
    260 credits.
  • 180 credits of core classes (A-G requirements)
  • 20 Advisory Credits
  • 60 Animo Electives
  • An F grade means you receive 0 creditsSo if
    a student receive an F they are in danger of
    not having all of their required credits to
    graduate. They will need to make up the class or
    take an elective class to make up the credits.

What are A-G requirements?
  • A-G requirements are the UC and CSU Admissions
    requirements.
  • A History/Social Science(2 years)
  • B English(4 years)
  • C Mathematics(3 years, 4 strongly recommended)
  • D Science(2 years,3 strongly recommended)
  • E Language other than English (LOTE) (2years, 3
    strongly recommended)
  • F Visual and Performing Arts(1 year long course)
  • G College Prep Elective(1 year long course)

What additional requirements are needed besides
passing classes?
  • Seniors must complete the Senior Exit Portfolio
  • They must apply to at least 3 Universities
    (CSU,UC, or private)
  • Students must must show proof of application
    (also required for their Portfolio)
  • A personal statement is required for the UC
    admission and private schools
  • They will apply to EOP (Equal Opportunity
    Program)
  • This program is part of the Cal State Application
  • This program looks beyond GPA and test scores and
    will take into account issues that affect the
    student.
  • Students who qualify will apply for financial aid
    (FAFSA)
  • Please see the Senior Timeline for important
    dates

What are parents responsible for?
  • Parents must complete 140 Parent Volunteer Hours.
  • Continue to encourage your Senior to do the best
    they can because colleges will look at their
    final transcript
  • Ask them questions about their college
    applications
  • Encourage them to apply to college
  • And finallycontinue to love and support your
    children!

Senior Privileges!!!!
  • Senior Square Lunch
  • Denim Day Fridays (jeans school shirt)
  • Food vendor sales for seniors on occasion.
  • Senior Prom
  • Grad Night
  • Senior Activity Day(s)
  • Graduation Day (yeah!)

Loss of Senior Privileges
  • 3 or more unexcused absences in 1 semester and/or
    with 9 more unexcused tardies in 1 semester
  • 3 major referrals, 2 suspensions, (2 minor
    referrals would equal 1 major referral)
  • Lost textbooks or unpaid balances
  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA in their
    Senior year to participate in Senior Activities.
  • Students who pass their classes but who dont
    pass the CAHSEE can still walk the graduation
    ceremony retake the CAHSEE in the summer.

Who are the Distinguished Graduates of ODLH?
  • A student who completes 10 hours above and beyond
    volunteer hours for community service
  • Must submit a verification sheet signed by the
    Supervisor
  • Must submit a 1 page typed reflection essay
  • The student has gone above and beyond the minimum
    A-G requirements and has completed the
    recommended A-G course work
  • 3 years of History/Social Science
  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of Mathematics
  • 3 years of Science
  • 3 years of Language other than English
  • 1 year of Visual and Performing Arts
  • 1 year of College Prep Elective

College Application Deadlines
  • November 30th is the LAST day to submit any Cal
    State and UC applications.
  • November 3rd SAT Subject Test Date
  • November 19th Apply for FAFSA Pin
  • December 1 last SAT date for college admissions
  • December 3rd Private School applications due

Academic Progress
  • Seniors should currently be passing all of their
    classes with at least a C to be on track for
    graduation.
  • Seniors must stay on top of their work in all
    classes. Late work and missing assignments are
    inexcusable.
  • Senior teachers have expressed concern that many
    students are slacking off. This may affect
    their graduation progress. Please help us by
    reminding them to keep up with school work.
