Title: Chinese Cuisine cook authentic Chinese food

1
Chinese Cuisine -- cook
authentic Chinese food
  • Major Studio Interactive Final Project
  • Fengyu Hao

2
INTRODUCTION
  • The project is a cooking game.
  • The goal is to introduce authentic Chinese
    cooking to players.
  • It provides the players an entertaining way to
    learn.
  • It takes advantage of the Wii remote technique.
  • Target audience is any one who is interested in
cooking Chinese food or / and cooking games. More
    female than male.

3
INSPIRATION
  • My own experience after I moved to the US.
America culture was not exactly the same as what
I learned from books. Experience a culture is
also different from reading a culture.
  • Chinese culture is popular. There are Chinatowns
    in several cities.
  • Chinese restaurants are available everywhere. But
people can rarely eat authentic Chinese cuisine,
    even in Chinatown.
  • James Paul Gee -- What Video Games Have to Teach
  • Us About Learning and Literacy

4
DESIGN QUESTIONS
  • 1, What aspects of Chinese culture are foreigners
    interested in?
  • 2, How can I build an environment for my audience
    to learn better?
  • 3, How can I introduce the culture element in an
    efficient way?
  • 4, How can I provide a brand new learning
    experience?

5
CONCEPT
  • situated cognition (I.e., thinking as tied to
a body that has experiences in the world) human
learning is not just a matter of what goes on
inside peoples heads but is fully embedded in
(situated within) a material, social, and
    cultural world.
  • --What Video Games Have to Teach Us About
    Learning and Literacy.(James Paul Gee)
