Introduction This course is a regulatory
requirement and meets the training guidelines of
the National Advisory Committee for Laboratory
Animal Research (NACLAR) in Singapore. The course
addresses the needs of principal investigators,
researchers, clinician scientists, medical
technologists and all others involved in research
procedures and training courses that require the
use of animal models. This is a comprehensive
course that will impart the requisite knowledge
and basic skills for using animals in research
and training in a safe and humane manner and will
allow participants to develop a better
understanding of the procedures required.
Successful completion of the course by PI and
collaborators will be a pre-requisite for IACUC
approval of research or training protocols
utilizing animals. The course is organised
jointly by the SingHealth Research Secretariat,
the Department of Experimental Surgery, SGH and
SGH-IACUC. In view of the overwhelming response
to past courses and in order to meet impending
licensing requirements, please submit your
application form as soon as possible. I would
like to take this opportunity to thank all those
involved in organising this course and wish all
participants an enjoyable and fruitful
experience. Dr Pierce Chow Director, Department
of Experimental Surgery Chairman, SGH-IACUC
