Burns
  • 1st Degree Burns
  • Red Skin
  • Treatment
  • Ointment
  • Cold pack or Cold water
  • Cover with sterile dressing to prevent it from
    air.
  • Do not need care of a physician

  • Treatment
  • Put in cold water for about 10 minutes
  • Cover with sterile dressing to keep from exposure
    to air
  • Cleanse burned area with lots of water and soap
  • Keep patient well hydrated
  • Should be treated by a physician
  • 2nd Degree Burns
  • Blistering occurs
  • DO NOT OPEN BLISTERS!!!!!!

  • Treatment
  • Do NOT apply ointment
  • Wash area with water and apply clean bandages
  • Wrap large area with clean sheet or towel
  • Keep burned hands and feet elevated
  • Keep patient well hydrated
  • Get medical help immediately
  • 3rd Degree Burns
  • Deep tissue burns

Artificial Respiration
  • Clean airway, tilt head back
  • Pinch nostrils closed
  • Cover patients mouth with yours and blow
  • Watch for chest to rise
  • Allow air to escape from patients mouth
  • Watch for chest to fall
  • Repeat 5-6 seconds until a pulse is found.

CPR(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Start IMMEDIATELY
  • Kneel along side the victim
  • Start artificial respiration
  • Blow into mouth twice
  • Locate the spot that is about 1 ½ inches above
    the lower end of the sternum
  • Place the heel of one hand on the breastbone and
    place the other hand over it
  • Thrust 15 times in a downward direction
  • Blow into victims mouth again
  • Continue cardiac thrusts and artificial
    respiration until a heartbeat is found

Heimlich Maneuver(use with a choking victim)
  • If object cannot be removed from the mouth start
    the Heimlich Maneuver
  • Victim should be raised to feet
  • Stand behind victim and place arms around waist
    around the rib cage
  • Place right fist, with the left hand over it, up
    in the abdomen just below the breast bone. Get a
    firm grip
  • Use a sudden inward and upward thrust to force
    air through the victims chest and windpipe
  • Repeat several times if necessary

Heimlich Maneuver (victim laying on back)
  • Kneel and face the victim
  • Astride the hips of victim
  • Place one hand on top of the other and place heel
    of the bottom hand just below the rib cage
  • Press the heel of the hand forcefully with a
    quick upward thrust
  • Repeat several times if needed
