Title: A rainforest is a hot forest where it

1
What is a rainforest?
  • A rainforest is a hot forest where it
  • rains a lot of the time. Because it is so hot,
    trees grow really big.

2
In the rainforest the size of a football pitch is
being destroyed every second.
3
Over 50 of the earths species
live in the worlds tropical rainforests.
4
Oils
  • We get Oils from trees in the rainforest. There
are 3 sorts of Oils witch are for perfume, fuel,
and flavouring. Lime oil from the trees as well
    as Patchouli and Rosewood.

5
. Building homes
  • In a rainforest trees are being destroyed and
animals are dying because of climate change.
People are chopping down the rainforest trees for
timber to build houses so that animals are dying
because they are loosing their habitat.

6
90 of all primates are found in tropical
rainforests.
7
capybara
  • A capybara is a furry rodent as big as a pig. it
lives in groups of 10-40 by the river bank or
near to water in south America. It is the fastest
swimming rodent. It can only have 4 babies a year.

8
Costa Rica
was the first
Central American nation
to cultivate bananas for export!
9
Rainforest fact
  • About 50 of all mammals and 25 of all bird
species in Malaysia will become extinct by the
year 2020 due to rainforest destruction.

10
The Tukano tribe
  • The Tukano tribe lives in Brazil. The tribe build
their houses from palm leaves, small trees and
bark. The men are named after birds and the woman
    are named after plants.

11
In the tropics
  • Wood is the main source of energy for cooking for
    millions of poor people

12
Rainforests are the richest places on Earth but
every day they are being destroyed.
13
Plants in the Rainforest
  • The condition in the rainforest makes all the
species of plants, like trees and shrubs, larger
than our kind of plants. Most leaves are large to
absorb enough sunlight. If the leaves didnt have
enough sunlight they would die really quickly.
The forest trees struggle to reach the sunlight,
thats why there trunks are tall and straight .

14
Foods
  • In the rainforest it is very hot so trees grow
really well. Here are some of the things that
    grow there

Fruits Chocolate Bananas Pepper
Vanilla Oranges
Spices Ginger Allspice Cinnamon Turmeric Paprika
Nuts Coconuts
15
Cane and fibre
  • In the rainforest you can get fibre and cane. You
can use fibre for doormats, fishing nets,
packaging, cloves, furniture as a example chairs.
And you can use bamboo for houses, chopsticks,
boxes, furniture, as a example a table you can
use cane for fishing nets, cloves, furniture,
    boxes, packaging.

16
An area the size of two and a half football
pitches can contain 600 species of trees.
17
In a rainforest it rains two metres every
year.
18
TIMBER
  • In the rainforest people are chopping trees down
to make their houses. They are killing animals
    and destroying the animals homes.

19
There are 5 layers in the rainforest.
20
Layers of Rainforest

    in the Rainforest.

21
LEOPARD
  • A leopard is a member of the cat family. The
clouded leopard gets its name from its clouded

    rainforest.

23
farming
  • People are cutting down trees to plant
    strawberries, peppers, pineapples, sugarcane and
bananas to sell to rich countries. But the bad
thing is animals will lose their homes and once
trees have been cut down it will rot and wont
grow again and trees give oxygen as well.

24
Rainforests are being destroyed . People are
chopping down trees so they can build homes out
of them.
