Title: Lilies of the Field

1
Lilies of the Field
Historical/Cultural Context This is a quote from
the New Testament of the bible. Little is known
of the actual time period that it was penned. As
far as culture we can see that it makes a
reference to King Solomon, therefore it must be
alluding to the early Hebrew culture. Or making a
comparison to Solomons splendor.
Connotations Beauty, splendor, wealth.
  • Explanation lilies of the field more splendidly
attired than Solomon. N.T. Matthew 62829
    Luke 122731
  • This is a quote taken from the bible and is
making a comparison of beautiful flowers to the
wealth, splendor, and beauty of King Solomon, a
king of the Hebrews in the Old Testament who was
stated as the wealthiest and wisest mortal man to
    ever live.

leopard that lies down with a kid, and the calf
and the young lion and the fatling together.
    (Isaiah 116)
  • It is basically meant to describe the peace that
    shall exist in heaven.

from the East" in the Bible. Their number is
unknown as it was never stated in the Bible only
that there were three gifts brought to baby Jesus
the supposition that this implied three givers
is speculation.
