Washington has one of the few rain forests in the
United States.
More than half of Washington is covered with
forests.

Reptiles and amphibians common garter snake,
pacific gopher snake, painted turtle, western
sink.
Trees Douglas, fir, pine, western hemlock,
western larch.
Birds Bald eagle, great blue heron, northern
spotted owl, stealer's Jay.
Mammals beaver, black bear, gray whale, mountain
goat, mule deer, orca
Wild plants Fern, goldenrod, lupine, sage brush,

• The Seattle Space Needle is 605 ft. high

• People go there because you can see all of the
  city and the mountains close by.

• 1969- Boeing helps with Apollo project to put
  first man on the moon.

• 1889- Washington becomes a state.

• 1942- the Grand Coulee Dam is completed.

• 1998- Bill Gates, head of Microsoft, becomes the
  richest man in the world.

• 1896- Settlers moved to Washington because gold
  was discovered in Canada.

• 1962- a Worlds Fair called Century 21 is held in
  Seattle.
