Wanda and Winky, the Elephants

• The Detroit Zoo is giving them away solely
  because of their ethical treatment.
• They will be leaving in late summer or early
  fall.
• This is an 81-year old tradition,and will be
  going to one of 2 U.S. refuges.

About the girls!

• Both are Asian Elephants.
• Wanda is 51 years old and has been at the zoo for
  14 years.
• Winky is mid 40s and been at the zoo for 7 years.

Detroit Zoo

• First zoo ever to voluntarily give up their
  animals.
• The Elephant House is over 1-acre of land, which
  is 16 times larger then the new standards.

In the wild

• Will walk over 30 miles a day.
• They live in herds, which are little families.

Fair Well Wanda and Winky

• They are the last Elephants to live at the
  Detroit Zoo.
• The zoo may not have them anymore but they do
  have many other animals still there, so go and
  visit.
