Tap Dancing!!!

• Definition-a dance step tapped out audibly with
  the feet. It is done with hard soled shoes with
  taps on the bottom.
• Usually done to a faster paced music
• Tap dance terminology
• -Flap -Skuffle
• -Shuffle -Toe Heel
• -Ball change -Harlem time step
• -Heal Drop -Buffalo
• -Cramp Roll -Draw Back

The History of Tap Dancing!

• The phrase "tap dance" first appeared in print
  around 1928.
• The early slave trade in America resulted in a
  rhythmic collision of cultures.
• The African-Americans held on to their traditions
  and transferred to rhythms to their feet.
• By the mid-nineteenth century, African-Americans
  had combined their footwork with Irish and
  British clogging steps to create a style  called
  "buck and wing." which became Modern Tap Dance.

The Rockettes

• A group of girls that tap dance in the famous
  Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
• Usually consists of about 50 girls
• Must be between 57 and 59
• Famous for their kick lines.

• Usually done to a classical music
• Woman ballerinas usually wear Tu-Tus and men
  wear uni-tards
• Done in Slipper-type shoes either soft toe or a
  hard toe (point shoe)

Jazz Dance

• A Type of dance done to fast paced music.
• A Jazz boot, shoe, or simple street shoes can be
  worn.
• Hip-Hope Dance is a form of Jazz dance.
• May include a variety of steps such as turns,
  leaps, and jumps.

Lyrical

• Known as a mix between jazz and ballet
• A slower jazz and a faster ballet
• usually done with a lot of emotion
• Usually done in lyrical sandals or
  barefoot.
