Earthquake Fund-Raising
  • 8th October earthquake was the wake-up call for
    Pakistanis all around the world
  • PSA_at_Purdue launched a campus-wide fund-raising
    campaign
  • Stalls established at 4 campus locations for one
    week operating 8 hrs./day
  • Students volunteers participation was exemplary
  • Generous support from everyone at Purdue
    including both Pakistanis and non-Pakistanis
  • Raised USD 5300 and donated to president Relief
    Fund
  • Received a letter of recognition from the
    Pakistani consulate in Washington, D.C.

Independence Day Celebrations
  • Celebrated the 59th Yaum-e-Azadi (Independence
    Day) with fervor and enthusiasm
  • Get-together event attended by 70 students,
    professionals and their families
  • Activities included
  • Singing the Pakistan national anthem
  • Volleyball and cricket matches
  • BarBQ and traditional Pakistani food
  • Boilermaker train rides

International Fest (March 2006)
  • Arranged by Purdue Student Union Board and
    attended by 20 student organizations
  • PSA participated to represent Pakistani culture
  • PSA stall displayed
  • Traditional Pakistani dresses and jewellery
  • Henna (Mehndi)
  • Video Documentary about Pakistan
  • PSA stall was featured in the report by ISS and
    the Lafayette Journal Courier

Cumberland International Art Night
  • International arts/crafts event attended by 500
    elementary school students and their parents
  • ISS requested PSA to exhibit a stall for
    educational exchange
  • PSAs hand-painting stall was a huge success
  • Excellent outreach opportunity
  • Credit goes to female Pakistani students

End-of-Spring Picnic
  • The picnic was held on May 5, 2006
  • To appreciate the support of volunteers during
    the earthquake fund-raising
  • To bid farewell to the Pakistani students
    graduating in Spring 2006

  • Discussion group to provide a centralized help
    forum for students intending to attend Purdue
  • Welcome emails with useful pre-arrival
    information to incoming Pakistani students

  • Membership fee is 5 per annum

  • Both Pakistani and non-Pakistani citizens are
    eligible for membership

Election Schedule
  • Membership closes on Tuesday, September 5
  • Nominations must be filed with the current
    executive committee by Friday September 8
  • Nominees announced on PSA website and discussion
    group on Saturday, September 9
  • Elections will be held on Friday, September 15
  • Voting in absentia shall not be allowed
  • Consult the PSA constitution for further details
