Data Collaboration and Standards
Promote data sharing and understand the use of
data standards for regional or multi-municipal
applications.

• Current Version 2.5
• 7 Data Layers Being Used by Multi County
  Projects and as a standard for new data.
• Potentially add Land Use / Land Cover and NHD
  Hydrology based on LiDAR

FEMA Map Modernization

• Eric Jespersen, Tom Mueller,PhD GISP, Paul
  DeBarry, GISP
• Initiated contact with PA Cooperative Flood
  Insurance Program (CFIP) in July 2005.
• First Workshop March 2006
• Goal was to increase coordination and improve PA
  performance in Map Mod Program
• 25 attendees invited fed, state, regional, and
  local reps
• Established long-term goals
• Report on www.pamagic.org

MapModerization

• Meetings in July 2006 January, May, and November
  2007
• Increased attendance to about 50, with over 80
  different people involved
• Major focus on utilizing best available data to
  make best maps possible
• FEMA, DCED/CFIP, PaMAGIC sponsors
• Spurred State Agencies to initiate internal
  coordination meetings as well

MapModerization

• better maps mean better floodplain management
• Creation of the PA Association of Flood Plain
  Managers (PAFPM), currently a subcommittee of
  PaMAGIC
• PaMAGIC held series of meetings in Summer 2008 to
  organize the group
• First semi-annual meeting set for November 19,
  2008 in Harrisburg area.

PA Hazus

• Tom Mueller, Ph.D. GISP and George Heake.

• The Pennsylvania HAZUS Network is a collection of
  HAZUS User Groups in the Commonwealth of
  Pennsylvania that will assist HAZUS users. 
• To offer a forum for Pennsylvania public,
  private, and academic organizations that use
  HAZUS-MH software and related technologies to
  develop public policy and programs for building
  disaster-resistant communities.
• First organized meeting will be Spring 09

• 9th Annual event held in conjunction with the
  2008 PA GIS Conference
• Opportunity to interact, exchange, and debate
  issues, policy and technology in a relaxed
  uninhibited setting
• Live entertainment, good food and refreshing
  beverages
• PaMAGIC Board Election Results Announced
• Three levels of sponsorships Gold, Silver
  Bronze
• Raised 3,250 in 2008 sponsorships to support
  the event and other PaMAGIC initiatives
