Geographical location

• Berlin is sourrounded by the Bundesland
  Brandenburg and is in the east of the Republic of
  Germany. It lies in the lowland of Germany near
  Baltic Sea. Berlin is subdivided into 12 boroughs.

• Area 891,75 km²
• Inhabitants 3.391.407 (30th June, 2005)
• Formation 12 boroughs and 95 districts

History

• Berlin has a famous History because of its
  Nazi past with Adolf Hitler who was the leader of
  Germany. After the second World War it was
  splitted up into east and west. In the middle of
  Berlin was the wall. Berlin was a symbol for
  the divide of Europe. In the year 1989 was the
  reunion of Berlin and also of Europe.

Attractions

• Berlin is famous for its numerous theatres
  and museums. The most famous are the
  Volksbühne, the Berliner Ensemble and the
  Deutsche Theater Berlin.
• Every year Berlin is celebrating the
  Berlinale and there is the award of the
  Goldener Bär.
• You can see a lot in Berlin like the
  Brandenburger Tor who is the emblem of the
  city. It was build between 1788 and 1791.
