Ministry _at_ Camp Ziyoca
  • For many of us we make the yearly trek to
Mayhill, NM to be a camp counselor at Camp
Ziyoca. This ministry works with 7th 12th grade
students teaching them about the love of Christ!

Our Stories
  • My name is Glenn Burns and I am an Elder for
the Community of Christ living in Lubbock, Texas.
Currently I am finishing my Senior year at Texas
Tech University in the field of Landscape
    Architecture.

For my senior project next semester, I hope
to work on a master plan for the Joseph Smith
Historic Site in Nauvoo, Illinois. Last summer I
worked at the site as a tour guide and started a
list of plants that would have been available in
the area during the 1840s. After graduation I
hope to move to Dallas/Fort Worth or Austin to
work for a landscape architecture firm.

Our Stories (continued)
  • My name is Shelby Williams and I am a
graduate from Graceland University. I grew up
driving from Kansas to the campgrounds of New
Mexico every summer. This is where my mom grew up
going to camp. The campgrounds became my place to
go each year to find comfort and learn of
Christs love. Now that I am older, I look
forward to making the trek back to the
campgrounds to be a camp counselor each summer. I
think that one of our greatest recruiting
activities in the Rio Grande Mission Center is
bringing kids to the church camp to experience
Christs love. I believe that as a counselor I
can work to impact those that come to the camp so
they will go home and tell their friends about
their experiences. My hope is that everyone who
leaves the campgrounds will go back home and
reach out to their friends who have not gone to
church and will get them hooked as well. If
everyone reaches one other person, the impact on
individual lives and our churches in the region
    would be amazing.

Our Stories (continued)
  • Las Cruces Young Adults
  • On the 1st Sunday of every month, we have Bagel
Time at Durango Bagel (on Solano) across the
street from the church. We meet at 10am and most
of those that meet with us attend the 11am
    workshop service.

18
Our Stories (continued)
  • John Denton
  • On his way to California (from Durango,
Colorado). John recently got his red card saying
he has passed training to be a firefighter he
wants to try his hand at fighting wildfires in
    California.
