Title: RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

1
RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS
  • Shrine Membership Seminar
  • October 2005

2
4 Steps for Recruitment
  • Identify your Recruitment Sources
  • Set Goals for your Clubs and Units
  • Motivate Clubs, Units and Nobles
  • Monitor Recruitment Sources

3
Identify your Recruitment Sources
  • Who can you find in your Shrine Center that can
help with the recruitment of New Members?
  • Lodges have the first contacts with prospective
Shriners. Nobles need to be sincerely involved
with your area Lodges. Shrine degree teams are a
great way to keep Nobles involved in Lodge, and
    meet new Masons.
  • Divan officers have all been active members of a
Club or Unit. Go to that Club or Unit and ask the
members to put 100 into membership for their
    Potentate.
  • Check your Shrine petitions to find out which
Clubs, Units, and Nobles are bringing in New
    Members.

4
  • There are Nobles in all our Shrine Centers that
are committed to Membership and truly enjoy
introducing men to Masonry and the Shrine.

  • Finding and motivating these Nobles is
the Key to success. They are generally the 5
that work in the Lodges, Rites, and our Shrine
    Club and Units.
  • Some may live in the outlying jurisdiction of
the Shrine Center and can spearhead a membership
drive in their area. When asked by the Potentate
or Membership Chairman to bring in new members
    they will produce.

5
Set Goals for Clubs and Units
  • Set the Goal for your Shrine Center for the year.
Try to recruit 5 of your Shrine Centers total
    membership each year.
  • Use the sample tracking charts in the manual or
design your own. Goals can be set quarterly,
    yearly, or for Ceremonials.
  • Goals can be established for Clubs and Units by
size and past recruitment record. One easy way
to set goals is to ask the Club or Unit to bring
in one New Noble for every 8 members.
  • The goals can be given to your Club and Unit
Membership Chairman at your membership seminar or
at the first of the year. The goals can also be
published in your Shrine News and on your Web
    page.
  • Prospects can be tracked using the Novice
Recruitment Tracking Chart in the manual. By
passing this around at Club and Unit meetings you
will be able to monitor the progress of your
prospects through Lodge and into the Shrine.

6
Motivate Clubs, Units and Nobles
  • As Membership Chairman, and Officers, we need to
keep our Nobles EXCITED about recruiting New
    Members for the Shrine.
  • The Membership committee and Divan need to
Communicate and Cooperate with the Lodges, and
the Rites in addition to our own Units and Clubs.
  • Remember, hopefully our Lodges and Rites are
composed of Shriners, these men are working hard
to initiate new Masons. We need to be sure that
we support the Lodges and Rites.
  • Participate in as many lodge activities as
possible. Show the Lodge officers that you
    appreciate what they are doing.

7
  • Ask Club and Unit heads to help with membership
by making sure their Club and Unit achieves their
Goal. Ask individual Nobles if they could bring
in one New Member. If possible, these request
should come from the Potentate or Chief Rabban.
  • BE POSITIVE! We all want to be a part of a
    Winning Team.
  • EXCITEMENT IS CONTAGIOUS!
  • When Nobles see that the Membership committee,
Divan and Potentate, are excited about increasing
membership, the nobility will support them with
    New Members.

8
Monitor Recruitment Activity
  • Communicate
  • Every time you see a Club or Unit Head, ask him
how he is doing with his membership Goals. Use
the phone, e-mail, letters, whatever it takes.
  • Be sure to tell them how well they are doing and
how much you appreciate their help with
    membership.
  • ENCOURAGEMENT AND PRAISE ARE POWERFUL MOTIVATORS!
  • Recognition
  • Membership recognition can be anything List
top ling signers in Shrine News, Membership
dinner, Parking, Lapel Pins, Name Tags,
    Medallions, Jewels, Plaques, Hats, Shirts,
    Jackets, Trips,

9
Keep it SIMPLE!
  • 1. Identify your Recruitment Sources
  • Who can bring in New Members?
  • 2. Set Goals for your Clubs and Units
  • How many do you want them to bring in?
  • 3. Motivate Clubs, Units and Nobles
  • Keep them Excited about Membership, let them know
    you care!
  • 4. Monitor Recruitment Sources
  • Track your Membership Goals and tell them THANKS!
