Medically Fragile Infants
  • Infants who are 7 months or older and have a
qualifying medical condition, may receive a food
package with additional formula and no baby foods
  • (with required Medical Documentation)

18
Developmental ReadinessTransition from liquids
to family foods
  • Baby foods fruits, vegetables and meats WIC
provides are pureed baby food. This texture is
usually appropriate for infants 6-8 months.
  • Baby may only need jarred food for a very short
time as transition to table food. Moms do not
have to keep buying it if baby has advanced to
family foods. Foods offered to baby should be
    developmentally appropriate.
  • Can tailor food packages for infants. Mom may
buy only what baby food she needs, or you can
offer to tailor the packages with less than max
amounts available if she doesnt need or use them.

19
No supplemental vouchers for Infant Foods
  • Supplemental vouchers for infant foods cannot be
issued to participants who have received vouchers
for the old food package for August, September or
    October.
  • Based on local agency policy, participants may
bring in a complete set of old food package
vouchers to exchange for a complete set of new
    food package vouchers.
