1All education springs from some image of the
future. IF the image of the future held by
society is grossly inaccurate, its educational
system will betray its youth and their future.
- TofflerFor I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future. - Jeremiah 2911

compiling data from Homeland Security, CDC and
Virginia Center for School Safety. The CMT has
met with the Chesapeake fire, police and
emergency services to write a comprehensive
crisis management plan.
15CRISIS MANAGEMENT POLICY
- GCA recognizes the importance of being prepared
for crisis situations for the protection and well
being of the students, parents, teachers, and
staff. It is the policy of GCA to establish a
crisis management team under the authority of the
superintendent to determine, establish, provide
training, review and revise procedures, to
provide a safe and secure learning environment.
The procedures must contain preventive, response,
recovery and review processes. The procedure will
make every effort to meet the requirements set
forth by our governing and accreditation
agencies. They are - ACSI Section 8, (Safety and Crisis Planning)
- SACS Section 9, (Facilities)
16The safety and security of GCA is the
responsibility of all associated with our school.
- The board, superintendent, staff, teachers,
parents, coaches, students etc. must be aware of
the surrounding environment, make good
assessments, and follow the process defined by
the procedures. A sincere effort shall be made to
provide good, sound procedures but the trend
toward unforeseen violence and terrorism in our
country makes it difficult to predict/prepare for
every circumstance. Therefore individual judgment
may supersede a procedure
