2FDI in Ethiopia
- Domestic investment has increased rapidly since
the introduction of liberal policy in 1992
- the gap between Domestic investment and saving
has remained wide.
- Gross domestic investment as a proportion of GDP
rose from 11.9 to 19.1
- gross domestic saving remained at the same rate

- The large part of the increase in investment has
been attributed to the private sector whose share
increased from 2.5 to 13.1
- Public sector investment increased only
marginally from 6.4 to 7.4
- The quantity of FDI that entered in the past
decade was small

- limited resource of finance and defficualty in
accessing existing source of finance
- access to important inputs or resources
particularly land has also been a chronic
constrains to investment
- insufficiency of the existing land lease market
- the high price of land and the fact that banks do
not accept land as collateral

- NICIF - National Information and Communication
Infrastructure Framework
- It is a conceptual framework by which the
Government has considered to proceed to more
detailed elaboration of major components.

- Elaboration of National Information and
Communication Infrastructure Development Vision -
through a workshop organized in collaboration
with the UNECA (OCTOBER 11 - 12, 1999). - One of the objectives
- To review and examine the National Information
and Communication Infrastructure (NICI)
development vision and the identification of
policy instruments to guide and support the
subsequent implementation of the program.
