GBC Mission Statement
  • The mission of the Greater Baltimore Committee is
to improve the business climate of the Greater
Baltimore region by organizing its corporate and
civic leadership to develop solutions to the
problems that affect the regions competitiveness
    and viability.

3
What is the GBC?
  • The GBC is an organization of leading business,
professional and civic leaders who work to
improve the quality of life in the greater
Baltimore region by responding to problems that
affect the region and seeking out opportunities
    for long-term economic growth.

4
What is the GBC?
  • A regional organization
  • Serves Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore,
    Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties
  • Members include 450 businesses, non-profits,
educational and civic institutions in the region

5
History of the GBC
  • Founded in 1955 by 80 business leaders who wanted
to take prompt and aggressive action to solve
some of the citys most pressing problems.
  • At the first GBC meeting, Robert Levi, EVP of
Hecht Company, said there has been too much talk
and too little action on municipal problems.
  • The GBC set out to be an action committee to
bring about rapid tangible improvements. Over
the years it has a track record of getting things
