Title: It was a great day for T-hunting. Steve XFC

1
It was a great day for T-hunting. Steve XFCs
camera caught a heavenly light shinning down upon
the K6SNE Radio Flyer. Little did Dave and I
know that it was a harbinger of the drive ahead
of us..
2
We consulted this very old map we have and placed
the bearing through Mono lake/Carson City.Yes,
yesWe knowIt crosses Bald Mtn.
3
At the Interstate 5/14 split we looked
desperately for a signal.but had none.after
giving the situation some careful thought.
We drove out the 14 to Hwy 395..BIG MISTAKE!
4
As we drove out the 14 we had several strong
bearings which pointed in the direction we were
driving. We thought we had made the right
decision.but as we went north on hwy 395 the
signal became progressively weaker.but always on
our bearing.so we droveand drove.and drove
some more. until we reached
5
Mono Lake, and all we can say is
The T aint here!
6
Great! What Now! Of course! The only way
west is through Yosemite National Park..We

This small fire had us worried for a minute as we
had to drive through it.
19
Luckily the USFS had the fire out in short order.
20
Not so lucky for this stand however. This is
what remains after severe fires a couple of years
ago.

From Yosemite we drove every back road we could
find that would make our mileage shorter, finally
ending up at Bass Lake at dusk. After circling
the T all through the Shaver lake area until
midnight, we had to retire to Fresno for fuel.
After gassing up the Jeep , and my not being
prepared for an overnight stay, we made the
decision to go home. The hunt was a BLAST! I got
to see some country I had not seen in many years.
