  • The Iroquois fought with other native Americans
    and they took the native Americans fur to trade
    with the British. The Ohio Valley River Indians
    helped the French defeat the Iroquois.

  • An Ottawa chief named Pontiac from the Great

    Nations to stop the French.

  • To raise money from the colonies, the British
    used a tax. None of the colonists liked it

  • A British official named Charles Townshend was
    determined to raise money from the colonies.
    Townshend placed a new set of taxes on products
    the colonists imported from England.

The Boston Massacre
  • The Boston Massacre was on March 5th 1770. A
    group of colonists had gathered at the Boston
    Custom House. The group led by Crispus Attucks
    and others began to throw snowballs at a British
    soldier soon eight other British soldiers arrived.

  • The British needed to raise money, so they put
    taxes on tea. After the British taxed the
    colonists, the colonists didnt like it.

  • On a December evening in 1773, the Sons of
    Liberty held what would soon become the most
    famous tea party in history. They dressed up as
    Indians and hauled 342 chest of tea overboard.

The Intolerable Acts
  • Instead of backing down as it had with the Stamp
    Act and the Townshend Acts, parliament struck
    back.
  • For weeks it debated how to punish the colonists.

  • Colonists thought that refusing to trade with
    Britain would force parliament to repeal the
    Intolerable Acts.

  • On the night of June 16th, 1000 minutemen marched
    in the dark to Bunker Hill, their commander
    colonel William Prescott decided at the last
    minute to fortify nearby Breeds Hill instead,
    because it was Boston.
