  • Unit 1 - Describing jobs companies
  • Organize jobs within their career fields - create
    a mind map. Examine vocabulary and expressions in
    this field and think about ways to store this
    language.
  • Match jobs with their job descriptions - one page
    of definitions.
  • Reflect on and research a job - write a report
    about this job.
  • Interview peers in order to find out which job or
    career field interests them the most. Evaluate
    peer responses to the interviews and recommend an
    appropriate career field for them - present your
    findings to the class.

  • Describe personal and professional

    ways to store this language.
  • Study job advertisements and present their
    general structure to the class.
  • Read about compiling CVs and then create a CV for
    yourself or a famous person of your choice.
  • Write a cover letter for a job and design a
    tailor-made CV for it.
  • Simulate job interviews - video process write a
    reflective evaluation of this process.
  • Participate in a persuasion/negotiation meeting
    to choose 5 to 10 of the most suitable students
    for a work experience training week to a local
    company to learn secretarial skills.

  • Unit 4 - Brands and Advertising
  • Categorize brands according to company field e.g.
    clothing or computer hardware company.
  • Discuss the effectiveness of logos and slogans -
    write a report of your findings.
  • Read about and analyze some of the ways companies
    sell a product. Record the kind of language used
    for this and present your findings to the class.
  • Use persuasive language to sell a product to
    peers record your sell.
  • Watch a sales presentation and discuss the
    important language and other aspects (e.g. body
    language) involved in a good presentation. Then,
    give feedback on your ideas to the class.
  • Make a presentation on a subject of your choice
    using important language (e.g. signposting and
    sequencing).
