How to Insert Flash to PowerPoint and Keynote
2
  • PowerPoint and Keynote are the most commonly
used office software to make slideshows for
presentation or else. When giving a presentation,
the use of video is an important trick to attract
audience. Thus, we always need to insert videos
into PPT or Keynote, and Flash video is one of
the most popular components. This step-by-step
article describes how to add a Macromedia
Shockwave Flash to a PPT or Keynote slide to play
a Flash file (.swf) during a slide show.

  • How to Insert Flash SWF to PPT
  • PowerPoint 2007
  • Make sure that the Flash Player is installed on
the computer. Then, follow these steps
  • 1. In PowerPoint, display in normal view the
slide on which you want to play the animation.
  • 2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then
    click PowerPoint Options.
  • 3. Click Popular, and then click to select the
Show Developer tab in the Ribbon check box under
Top options for working with PowerPoint, and then
    click OK.
  • 4. On the Developer tab, click More Controls in
    the Controls group.

4
  • 5. In the list of controls, click Shockwave
Flash Object, click OK, and then drag on the
    slide to draw the control.
  • 6. Resize the control by dragging the sizing
    handles.
  • 7. Right-click the Shockwave Flash Object, and
    then click Properties.
  • 8. On the Alphabetic tab, click the Movie
    property.
  • 9. In the value column (the blank cell next to
Movie), type the full drive path, including the
file name (for example, C\MyFile.swf) or uniform
resource locator (URL) to the Flash file that you
    want to play.

  • PowerPoint 2010
  • Note PowerPoint 2010 now has direct support for
Flash (.swf) and inserting videos from websites
that make use of embed code, such as YouTube. You
need to have Adobe Flash Player installed and
this is only supported on 32-bit version of
    Office 2010 and PowerPoint 2010.
  • Make sure that the Flash Player is installed on
the computer. Then, follow these steps
  • 1. In PowerPoint, display in normal view the
slide on which you want to play the animation.
  • 2. Click File, and then click Options.
  • 3. Click Customize Ribbon, and then check the
check box labeled Developer in the right list,
    and then click OK.

6
  • 4. On the Developer tab, click the More Controls
    button in the Controls group.
  • 5. In the list of controls, click Shockwave
Flash Object, click OK, and then drag on the
    slide to draw the control.
  • 6. Resize the control by dragging the sizing
    handles.
  • 7. Right-click the Shockwave Flash Object, and
    then click Properties.
  • 8. On the Alphabetic tab, click the Movie
    property.
  • 9. In the value column (the blank cell next to
Movie), type the full drive path, including the
file name (for example, C\MyFile.swf) or uniform
resource locator (URL) to the Flash file that you
    want to play.

  • PowerPoint 2003 and Lower
  • For PPT 2003 and lower, the method is quite
complicated and not easy to operate. You can
    refer to http//support.microsoft.com/kb/291875
for detailed description. Personally speaking, if
you want to insert SWF to PPT 2003 or lower
version, I recommend you to use a SWF to WMV
Converter to convert SWF to WMV and then insert
the WMV video to PPT instead.

  • How to Insert Flash SWF to Keynote
  • Not like the MS PowerPoint, Keynote does not
support inserting SWF files since Mac-based
software don't support Flash. Therefore, if you
want to insert SWF files to Keynote, you need to
convert SWF to MOV for Keynote accepts QuickTime
video formats. After the conversion completed,
you will be able to import the converted flash
SWF to Keynote and play on it.
