Hearing Protection
  • Why?
  • Strengthen product offering

  • Need for a product DESIGNED to work as a system
    with Bullard hard hats
  • Blade design unique to Bullard product
  • Testing ensures quality fit and function

3
Hearing Protection
  • 85 dB(A) is the current maximum sound level,
to which people may be exposed during a working
day. To be able to medically guarantee a sound
level that is harmless to all people, sound must
be attenuated to a maximum of 75 dB(A).
  • It goes without saying that a hearing
protection program must be based on the principle
that all people have full protection.

4
NRR Rating
  • Noise Reduction Rating - all muffs are assigned
    one
  • NRR requirements must be determined by the
employer through evaluation of the area where
    workers may need hearing protection

5
NRR Rating
  • The NRR rating is the stated rating by which the
protector will decrease the noise reaching the
workers ears- depends on frequency of noise
  • It is possible to have too much hearing protection

6
100 wearing time
  • Nominal Wearing Net
  • Attenuation Time Attenuation
  • 20dB 100 20dB
  • 20dB 90 9.6dB
  • 25dB 90 9.9dB
  • 30dB 90 10.0dB
  • Hearing loss is usually gradual over time
  • Removal of hearing protection 2 of the time
  • (10 min/8 hr day) decreases the NRR of the
    protector BY HALF!

Active Listening
Wearers are able to hear important warning
signals, and communicate with those around them
without removing the ear muff. The built in
electronic protection system prevents noise
levels beyond 82Db(A) from going through the
speaker. Built in speakers allow lower level
sounds to enter the muff with a maximum
amplification of 12dB(A). Low/high tone control
allows for alteration of sound for optimum clarity
