1) Basic Concept
  • SEMAS has brought into India the concept of
    Abacus (Soroban) from Japan and
  • scrupulously following adopting the Japanese
    Concept of Abacus in the methods
  • training and teaching Abacus to teachers and
    students.

    to teach Abacus (Soroban) and

Tool and Device
  • a) Mater Abacus
  • This instrument of Abacus (Soroban) in used for
    teaching in classes by
  • Teachers and Instructors. This instrument will
    have 21 rods with 1 plus 4
  • beads in a row. This is adopted in Japanese
    Method of Abacus
  • b) Student Abacus
  • This small size instrument used by students will
    have 23 rods with 1 plus 4
  • beads in each row. This is standard size used in
    Japan.
  • In Chinese Method of Abacus, there will be 17
    rods.
  • When there are more numbers of rods in the
    instrument (Japanese
  • Abacus), one can work out sums of more digits
    easily at a quicker speed, it
  • also increases the digit span to brain to do
    mental sums very quickly, even
  • numbers with more digits and numbers in longer
    rows.

4) Calculation Method
  • In SEMAS the fingers in only one hand are used to
    work on the Abacus
  • instrument, as adopted in Japanese Method. This
    method of calculation is less
  • strain and saves time as it is carried out very
    quickly.
  • In Chinese Methods, the using of both the hands
    are adopted. It is called Double
  • Hand Method.
  • Experts in Abacus feel that the Japanese Single
    Hand Calculative Method is better
  • and students those practice in this method are
    comparatively doing longer sums
  • very rapidly with accurate and more brilliant.
  • 5) Syllabus in each level (Kyu) and teaching
  • SEMAS strictly adopts the syllabus of Japanese
    Abacus Educational System. It is
  • more advanced one.
  • As per the Japanese syllabus it is structured to
    learn , -, x and within 4 months
  • time
  • In the basic first level (10th Kyu) itself Mental
    sums are taught in addition to

    updated every now and then
  • In each level 4 Nos. of Work Books are supplied
    to students.
  • 7) Photographic Memory
  • Photographic memory at high speed is given
    training by a specialized device
  • which method is not followed by others.
  • 8) Admission Age of Students
  • SEMAS admits students from the age of 3 years
    onwards to study Abacus in its
  • Centers and there is no higher limits of Age.
    Even elderly people also can join and
  • learn and become Master of Soroban, which will
    help them to shine in their
  • professional career.
