Step by Step - Let's Play by Lizzy Hill
2
Lizzy Hill for Scrap Friends Hi there!
Today I thought Id show you a LO using Washi
tape, since we talked about it HERE and about
a common scrapping dilemma
3
Ever found the PERFECT piece of paper for a
photo.but the color's not quite right the
picky will cover the design that you want to show
off?
That was my problem. I LOVE the range of ICC
specialty papers that Scrap Friends stock I
really, really wanted to use this sheetso I
found a way.
4
Oh, note to self ALWAYS buy 2 sheets of pp
my mother taught me that when I 1st started
scrapping dont know why I forgot!!!
Isnt this paper gorgeous.but there just isnt
enough pink for my photo. Its way too orange
based!
5
Step 1 Carefully cut around the design element
enough for your photo to slip under, using a
craft knife.
Keep checking with your photo until youve cut
just the right opening its like making a
door!
6
Step 2 Find another piece of backing card in
the colour you want to highlight the pink of
the t-shirt in this instance .
so youre incorporating more of your chosen
colour.
7
Step 3 Using any stamp you wish, ink up and
stamp - or straight out sponge if you dont want
to stamp - the colour around the edges of your
pages. Using a couple of varying shades of the
same colour works well.
I used a script writing flower stamp. I also
stamped some flowers near the cut away area on
the backing card for good measure.
8
Step 4 Distress the edges of both papers. Ink
up more around the edges if necessary - any piece
of cut up sponge does the trick -
and work from the outside in towards the paper in
a circular motion.
9
Step 5 This is the fun bityou can do what
you fancy nowthe colour is right
you can place your photo so that lovely design
element is showing!
10
I really fancied using some Washi tape. Scrap
Friends has got a heap in stock, and more
arriving daily, so check out their collection
HERE. This is how I finished my LO
1 Added some stitching to frame the LO and
give it added depth. Green picked up the colour
from my photo meant I didnt go overboard on
the pink.
11
2 I decided NOT to distress the photo so it
stood out more -
used a thin matt in a neutral tone so that the
apricot and pink Washi tape which I then used as
a frame would feature nicely.
12
3 Next job was to work out what embellies
worked where to place themI did the same
with the title journaling.
Here Ive cut out a rough title template, after
deciding what Alphas to use simply moved it
around to see where it looked best. I did the
same with my journaling.
13
4 I like to create my own embellishments so I
made a Washi flower. It helps draw the eye to my
title, too. To create the flower, lay strips of
Washi tape, butted up against each other, on some
cardstock. .
Stamp with Staz On ink, then fussy cut! I now
have a matching flower embellishment!
14
5 Journaling. Ive used thin strips of Washi
tape, which you can buy HERE.
Its quick easy! I found you need to use a
PERMANENT marker so the writing doesnt run. My
secret?
15
Cut write on strips on your craft mat, then
move the tape when youre happy - they re-stick
easily. I ALWAYS attach my strips from the end
backwards.
That way I know I wont run out of space.it may
not work for you, but it does for me!!!!
16
And the end result The youre so cute
chipboard sentiment comes Polands Boy Sayings
collection. Ive used it raw.
You can find them HERE.
17
I hope this hasnt bored the socks of you too
much maybe youve picked up an idea that you
can incorporate into your own scrapping..
so happy scrappy, Cheers, Lizzy H.
