Starting the College Search
  • Now is the time for juniors to start looking at
    colleges
  • Attend the college fair on October 6th .
  • Search the internet, college handbooks and
    viewbooks
  • Explore careers and interests at www.kuder.com
  • Visit a college in the spring
  • Visit colleges of interest next summer

College Visitations
  • Contact the admissions office two weeks in
    advance to set up the appointment
  • Contact Mrs. Giesler for a College Leave Form (or
    print off of web site) and submit before the
    visit.
  • Student must return a verification form on the
    day following the visit to Mrs. Giesler

What to expect on the visit
  • Meet with the office of admissions
  • Take a campus tour
  • Meet with someone in your planned academic major
  • May meet with the office of financial aid
    (private colleges usually)
  • Attend a class

Tests for Juniors/Seniors
  • PSAT Wed, October 15th in a.m. for Juniors only
  • PSAT is free for the student
  • SAT Reasoning Test and/or ACT take during the
    spring of the junior year
  • SAT/ACT retakes no later than Dec. of senior year
  • ISTEP retest for some

  • SAT/ACT not required by OCU
  • C or better for eligibility
  • Cost 25 per credit hour

  • Apply online and request online transcript

    (MUST include addressed, stamped envelope)
  • Be neat and use ink if completing a paper
    application

  • Local packet will be given to seniors in January
  • FAFSA on the Web Worksheet will be available in
    December with March deadline

  • Start investigating colleges and careers
  • Look at admission requirements
  • Maintain or improve grades
