these projects in a matter of seconds.
  • To provide participants with resources
  • Your Technology Wish List

3
Blogs
  • AP Frenchs Le Cercle Francais
  • This is a secure blog hosted by Fayette County
    Public Schools The Point.
  • The advantage of a secure (password protected,
members only) blog is that you have total
control over who sees and posts to the site.
  • Topics vary according to student interest and
    postings are graded on communicationnot
    accuracy.
  • Tip Join your languages AP list-serve and
invite teachers from across the USA to have their
    students blog with yours.

4
Blogs
  • AP Spanish Blog
  • Questions are regularly posted on the blog
according to the theme we are studying in class.
  • Students log on to blog to respond to the
    questions in Spanish.
  • Students may also respond to the responses of
    other students.
  • This blog allows students to practice the
vocabulary and topics studied in class without
    worrying about corrections.

5
Blogs
  • Spanish 3 Recommendations Blog
  • This wiki is a part of a unit on extracurricular
    activities.
  • After reading Dear Abby letters and writing
responses, this wiki was an at-home practice
    activity for making recommendations.
  • In this wiki, students were allowed to make
recommendations as well as present their own
    problems.
  • This wiki was designed for extra practice with
    vocabulary and the subjunctive.

6
Wikis
  • French Pomme C Wiki
  • This Wiki was the center of a unit about
    technology.
  • Students used the mobile computer lab to access
the wiki daily in class and all assignments were
linked to and done on the wiki.
  • From the wiki, students engaged in a vocabulary
web search, created an annotated text, viewed a
music video, and posted websites where they found
    and summarized articles about technology.

7
Wikis
  • French Nouvelle Star Wikis
  • These wikis were part of an assignment that the
students completed for a substitute teacher.
  • I prepared 6 templates where students were to
    research various pop stars.
  • Students were given a web address and a password
for their wiki. They accessed the site where
they followed directions, and responded to
    prompts.
  • On this wiki, they read an article on-line,
posted new vocabulary, watched a music video, did
a cloze listening activity and annotated a text.

8
Wikis
  • Spanish 2 Picture Dictionary
  • Our Spanish 2 students are currently studying
vocabulary related to jobs in the neighborhood
and their WIKI assignment was to participate in
    creating an online picture dictionary.
  • The assignment was for each student to log into
our WIKI page and post pictures that would
illustrate the meaning of each vocabulary word.
  • The only information that the students needed in
order to participate was the website address and
    our class password.

9
Wikis
  • Spanish 1 Build a Story
  • Our Spanish 1 students are currently studying
    adjective-related vocabulary and their WIKI
assignment was to participate in creating a story
    online.
  • The assignment was for each student to log into
our WIKI page and post 1 sentence to continue the
story, as well as 1 picture that would illustrate
    their sentence.
  • The only information that the students needed in
order to participate was the website address and
    our class password.

10
Websites
  • French 3 Car Advertisements
  • As a culminating assessment to a unit focusing on
cars travel, students were divided into groups
and given a digital photo scavenger hunt for
which they searched through the parking lot and
took pictures of various car parts on a list.
  • Then they downloaded their photos and created an
    online advertisement using Microsoft FrontPage
    software.
  • I linked the sites to my classroom website and in
a follow-up activity, students surfed the sites
    to shop for cars accessories.

11
Websites
  • Teacher Websites
  • District-hosted websites
  • Freewebs

12
Podcasts
  • French 4 Stereotype Commentaries
  • Groups of students were each given a page with a
stereotype written on it. They were asked to
formulate their own opinion to either support or
refute the stereotype. They were then asked to
speculate why people would believe that
stereotype. Finally they were given an article
that either supported or refuted the stereotype
and had to generalize what the truth was.
  • One member of each group then recorded the
groups response in our language lab.
  • The responses were uploaded and linked to our
website where our pen pals in France were able to
listen to them and respond with their opinions.

13
Podcasts
  • AP Frenchs Virtual Show and Tell
  • Every 2-3 weeks, when class falls on a Friday, AP
students bring in an unusual object and tell the
    class about it.
  • We take digital photos and record a description
and post them on the website.
  • This is advantageous since one student does AP
Independent Study and he can still participate
even though he is not in the same class.
  • As an extension, I mix up the pictures and
descriptions on the website and students who
match them up and turn in the answers earn extra
    credit.

14
Podcasts
  • AP Spanish Health Commentaries
  • Students recorded answers to one of two questions
    related to health
  • Should large cities implement a smoking ban in
    public places?
  • What steps should young people take to maintain
    good health?
  • Recorded responses were placed on a wiki.
  • Students log on to wiki to respond to recordings
    done by classmates.
  • These podcasts allow students to hear themselves
as well as other students speaking and to respond
to each other without worrying about errors.
