Primary Six Halloween Unit
Enter the haunted house..

Fill in the Gaps in your booklet (1)
Halloween comes from the phrase All Hallows
Eve. The Halloween tradition comes from England
and Ireland. Halloween began as a festival to
celebrate the end of summer. The meaning of
Halloween has changed over the years...
3
Fill in the Gaps in your booklet (2)
Halloween became a night of horror. Irish
children carved out pumpkins and lit them with
candles for Halloween. Now people dress up in
scary costumes. After dark, costumed children go
from house to house demanding sweets.
4

Kids in the USA and Britain love dressing up at
Halloween. They visit houses, sing songs or tell
a joke to get sweets. Many go to Halloween
parties and play games like "ducking for apples".
You must pick up an apple in water but you can
only use your mouth.

If two witches wear two watches, which witch
would wear which watch? Helen hardly ever heard
the horrible haunted house's Halloween howl. If
black bats could blow bubbles, how big bubbles
would black bats blow? Gary's green ghosts get
going gamely The wise witch went walking with
William's owl's wing. Don't buy big black cats
or blind bats' blood !

An acrostic poem is one where you choose a word
or name and use each letter in the name as the
beginning of a word or line that tells something
about that person or topic. Example An acrostic
poem using the word "Sun."

Sometimes when we go to the beach, I will get sun
burn. Usually if I put Sun block on my skin, I
