Stimuli
  • Subjects were made to listen to ascending
auditory beats slow beats (60beats/min), medium
    beats (100 beats /min), fast beats (120
    beats/min).
  • Beats were recorded using a synthesizer/sequencer.

11
Analysis
  • All the data was acquired at the 100Hz sampling
    frequency
  • Data processing and analysis performed on MATLAB
    (The Math Works Inc, US).
  • Karl Pearson Coefficient of Correlation

12
Results
Correlation between normal walk and 60 beats /min
Correlation between normal walk and 100 beats
/min
Correlation between normal walk and 120 beats
/min
13
  • Highest positive correlation was found with 100
beats/ min as compared to other
    tempi(r0.7651,plt0.05).
  • Auditory rhythm has a comprehensive effect on
improvement of gait pattern (stride length) and
surpasses the effect of load carriage.

Introduction
  • Carrying heavy loads is known to cause a change
    in the gait.
  • Examined the gait pattern in subjects carrying
backpack of 12 of their bodyweight while walking
    on a force platform.
  • Relationship between gait and synchronous beats
    was explored .
  • Determination of the impact of auditory rhythm in
reducing effect of load on gait parameters
(stride length) and eventually making them
    symmetric.
