Andres Chacon, Chris Helmer, Juliet Rowe,
We are three students at LCJSMS. I am Andres
and my favorite sport is soccer. My favorite
soccer team is Real Madrid. I am Juliet and my
favorite sport is tennis. I am Chris (the ginger
on the right) and my favorite sport is
basketball. We all think that science is our
favorite class!

Note Virtual museums were first introduced by
educators at Keith Valley Middle School in
Horsham, Pennsylvania. This template was designed
by Lindsey Warneka under the direction of Dr.
Christy Keeler during a Teaching American History
grant module. View the Educational Virtual
Museums website for more information on this
instructional technique.

Water
The water is the most important part of the
aquatic ecosystem. One reason it is the most
important part of the ecosystem is because it is
the habitat for all of the organisms, in
freshwater, and saltwater. For example, the water
is important to fish because fish can only live
and breathe in water, and if they lived on land
they would die. The last reason it is important
is because the water contains the producers, and
without the producers, the primary consumers
would die and the secondary and tertiary
consumers would follow. Water is the most
important part of the aquatic biome. http//www.s

Snapping Turtle
The snapping turtle is an amazing animal. It is
an omnivore which means it eats both animal and
plant material. Snapping turtles habitat is
freshwater, saltwater, and deep rivers. The diet
of the snapping turtle is C. Serpentina, nearly
all plant material living or dead. The placement
of the snapping turtle in the food web is a
secondary consumer. http//www.arkive.org/ AC

Seal
Seals are one of the many types of species that
thrive in the saltwater regions of the world.
Seals eat many things, including fish, squid,
octopi and penguins. Mainly, seals are the prey
of sharks. The living space of seals is usually
among temperate and cold waters. Seals are
carnivores, meaning they eat only meat. Also,
seals breed on the shore. The multicellular
organism of the seal is part of the aquatic
biome. JR http//www.arkive.org/

Great White Shark
The Great White Shark is a fierce animal. It is a
carnivore (only eats meat) and a tertiary
consumer when it comes to the food chain. Its
diet consists of angel fish, cuddle fish and many
varieties of small fish. Its habitat is near the
surface of the water so it can see its prey
better. Some sharks such as the Goblin Shark live
near the bottom of the ocean. This shark in
particular lives up to 30 years. A shark doesnt
not mature until 10 years. Female sharks usually
gives birth to 2-16 pups. Despite this animal
being famous, very little is known about
it. CH http//www.arkive.org/

Phytoplankton
Phytoplankton are a very important part of the
primary consumers in the aquatic zone.
pytoplankton are producers which means they
create their own energy from the rays of the sun.
The primary consumers who eat this plant are
krill, shells, and etc. The habitat of the
phytoplankton is the ocean. http//www.school.eb

Sea Grass
Sea grass is one of the several biotic factors in
the aquatic ecosystem. Sea grass is a producer,
meaning it makes its own food through the process
of photosynthesis, by using the energy of the
sun. Sea grass is a very crucial part of the diet
of marine turtles. Sea grass is also eaten by sea
cows. Sea grass is a producer which lives in the
aquatic biome. JR http//arkive.org

Algae
Insert Artifact Picture Here
The Algae is at the bottom of the food chain.
However, this doesn't make it less important the
it actually is. The Algae is one of the most
crucial animals in the food chain. It is depended
on by many invertebrates such as krill. Algae
lives near the surface of the water and is
usually eaten by passing invertebrate. Since it
lives near the surface (closer to the sun) it
multiplies much faster then any other producer.
The algae is one of the most important producers
in the food chain of the aquatic
ecosystem http//www.school.eb.com/comptons CH

River
The river is a very important part of the
freshwater biome. The freshwater biome includes
many different animals and plants in case you
didnt know what biome means it is a region of
earth with a particular climate and certain types
of plants. The river is habitat for snapping
turtles, frogs, and etc. The plants there are in
the river are lillypads and many more plants that
give life to the river. http//www.school.eb.com/

Lake
Lakes are one of the many types of aquatic
ecosystems. Lakes are full of organisms such as
plants and animals. The population of seaweed in
lakes is significant. It is a producer, meaning
it makes its own food and is at the bottom of the
food chain. A symbiotic relationship in a lake is
leeches and fish. This is parasitism. The leech
is getting nutrients from the fishs blood, and
the fish is losing blood. One organism benefits
while the other is harmed. Lakes are full of life
and relationships. http//www.school.eb.com/compto

Stream
The Stream Habitat is springing with life. It
contains lots of algae which makes it a perfect
place for organisms. The stream contains many
animals such as tuna and many more fish like it.
Usually the stream isn't to deep, so many bears
hunt for fish in it. Since there is plenty of
algae in the stream, this is a haven for primary
consumers, and since there would be more primary
consumers, there would be more secondary
consumers and so on. The Stream is formed by once
being connected to the ocean, but eventually the
vein from the stream to the ocean closes
up. http//www.school.eb.com/comptons CH

Neritic Zone
The Neritic zone of the Aquatic ecosystem is very
important. What the Neritic Zone really is, is
the shoreline. Many organisms (An individual
living thing made up of one or many cells that
are capable of growing and reproducing). The
animals that inhabit the shore line are turtle
eggs, starfish and etc. The A-biotic factors that
inhabit the Neritic Zone are rocks and
sand. http//www.school.eb.com/comptons AC

Open Ocean
The open ocean is one of the parts of the aquatic
biome. Marine turtles, porcupine fish, and octopi
are just a few of the many living things in the
open ocean ecosystem. A symbiotic relationship in
the open ocean is barnacles and whales. This is
commensalism. The barnacles attach themselves to
the whale, kind of like hitch-hiking for a ride.
The whale is left unharmed. The open ocean is
filled with life and interactions between
organisms. http//www.school.eb.com/comptons JR

Intetitled Zone
The Intertitled zone is an important part of the
aquatic ecosystem. It is springing with marine
life. Usually many animals hide from there
predators in this zone, since it is darker then
where there superior fish regularly are. Animals
such as star fish, cuddle fish and phytoplankton
live in this area. They usually depend on the
phytoplankton, since many of the producers live
on the bottom or the surface of the
ocean. http//www.school.eb.com/comptons CH
