Problem sets can be a hassle, but partying
doesn't have to be. Why let shaky locations and
sketchy guys spoil a well-deserved good time?
With these tried-and-true ideas, you can party
without fear and loathing

• Always go out with at least one other friend.
• Keep walking to a minimum with these services

• Let your friends at home know the game plan for
  the night and when you plan on being back.
• Have a backup plan in case you get split up at a
  club, or party. Set a time and place to meet
  later.
• Watch how much your friends drink and whos
  making your drinks. Dont drink beverages that
  have been lying around because someone might have
  dropped additives into them you may think
  thats that doesnt happen here, but
  unfortunately, this actually has happened at MIT.
• Get a few guy friends to go clubbing with you
  they can help shoo away sketchiness.
• Dont leave a friend whos wasted at a party.
  Actually, you want to avoid getting to this point
  with less alcohol and more H2O, but if she has
  crossed the line, get her home before she gets
  sick
• When getting wasted, its not a good idea to be
  outside your safe zone, i.e. friends you trust,
  or a safe environment where you can get the care
  you need if you get sick.
• Every now and then, your friend may need to be
  rescued from a lame/drunk loser who wont get the
  hint. You can extricate your friend from those
  situations with a little creativitya. The
  Ladies Room Meeting Rush over to her and say,
  You gotta come to the bathroom now! I have to
  pee andwe have to talk!b. The Pretend
  Boyfriend Ask one of your kind male friends to
  go up to her and pretend to be her boyfriend.
  This one is quite entertaining anywayc. The
  Put-Down Body language and attitude can ward off
  unwanted guys. Turn your back to him or answer
  his annoying questions with one word answers.d.
  The Code Red If the guy is really drunk and out
  of control, grab your friend and get away from
  him. If he gets violent or follows you, get help
  from the hosts of the party they might know the
  guy and know how to deal with him. If that
  doesnt work, call security or police.
• Losers have a lot less to offer when it comes
  down to it at the end of the night anyway.
• When the nights over, ask your guy friends if
  theyd be willing to walk you out and wait with
  you for the bus/SafeRide/cab so you dont leave
  alone (and/or drunk). You can ask girlfriends
  too.
• Designate a friend who drinks less for the night.
• Always have phone on you, and on vibrate because
  you probably wont hear it.
• Many women report that extensive drinking before
  sex has a "numbing" effect, and thats just no
  fun.

A GUY IS NOT WORTH IT IF
a) forgets your name two minutes after you said

your friends name again? d) says, You remind
me of this robot Ive been building. e) outtalks
you by a factor of three f) hasnt responded to a
thing you said. In fact, hes still talking about
the size of his hard drive (which is inversely
proportional to something else), g) hes
touching or poking you in a really odd way, h)
cant even drink without spilling on himself, or
i) you smelled him before you saw him.
