Arizona Window Tinting Laws
  • A Few Things You May Want To Know Before You Have
    Your Cars Windows Tinted

2
Why is Tinting Legislated?
  • If youve ever been inside a car with tinted
windows, you know how beneficial it can be.
  • It reduces glare, helps maintain the temperature
inside the car, and it can even help increase the
resale value because it protects the cars
    delicate upholstery.
  • Throughout the US, though, there are a number of
different window tinting laws. Wondering why? It
    all comes down to safety.

3
Isnt Tinting Safe?
  • Tinting your cars windows is absolutely safe,
but at night, it can decrease visibility.
  • It may also put law enforcement officers who
approach the car on guard, which can be a bit
    frustrating to many people.

4
Know the Law
  • There are many benefits to tinted windows, so
its only right that you go ahead and invest in
this technology if its right for you. Before you
do, though, find out a bit about the laws that
surround tinted windows in your state.

5
How Dark Can It Be?
  • In Arizona, the window tint laws are fairly loose
with the back side windows and the rear window.
Any level of darkness is fine.
  • With the front side windows, though, the tint has
to allow at least 33 of the light in. With the
windshield, you can have a non-reflective tint
along with top of the windshield, as long as it
    follows the AS-1 line.

6
Are Reflective Tints Allowed?
  • Reflective tints often have that wow factor,
and they can help keep the stuff in your car from
being visible outside of your car.
  • In Arizona, you can use reflective tints on the
front and back windows, but in both cases, they
cant be more than 35 reflective.

7
Other Laws to Consider
  • If you do decide to get your windows tinted, you
may want to consider the following laws as well.
  • You cant use a red tint on any windows.
  • If you do have the back window tinted, you need
    dual side mirrors.
  • There are medical exemptions available for some
tints, but you need to consult an attorney before
you may any of those changes.
