What is new system-wide?

• Students with extensive industry experience can
  now select the portfolio option in order to opt
  out of their required internship
• The old Sales Meeting concentration has been
  split into two separate concentrations, allowing
  students more focus in a specific career area
• The College successfully completed a Program
  Review of the Sports, Entertainment Event
  Management Program
• We continue to work cooperatively to complete
  FOCUS 2011 with an emphasis on increasing
  academic rigor in every program

Campus News - Charlotte

• Continuing to increase the number of full time
  faculty with terminal degrees
• A new faculty member joining the Charlotte
  faculty from Indiana University comes with a
  background in sports writing, sports marketing
  and corporate sponsorship.

Campus News - Denver

• Continued focus on preparing students to manage
  in resorts, working with industry partners
  throughout the Rocky Mountain area. A Minor is
  being created to support this emphasis.
• Improvements in the freshmen advising program,
  which now provides weekly programs (tours, panel
  presentations, industry speakers) for all
  freshmen as well as an increase in the number of
  one-on-one meetings between faculty and freshmen.

Campus News North Miami

• Golf Management- includes instruction at the
  world famous Doral Golf Resort and Spa and the
  Jim McLean Golf School. All Golf Management
  students will have the ability to improve their
  golf fundamentals by spending time at these
  prestigious golf institutions.
• Strong partnership with the Miami Heat (NBA
  Champions 2011-2016) where students have
  internship, part time work and future career
  experiences.
• Travel students spent one week in Germany and
  Cruise students experienced a 3-night Bahamas
  cruise

  creation and promotion of a film, television or
  other form of visual media.

  an interest in possibly working in a hotel to
  select to major in Hotel Management?

• Jobs Matter!

Hotels are where the jobs are

• Full-service hotels can, and do, employ students
  graduating from every major in The Hospitality
  College
• Graduates communicating back with us say that a
  majority of students who major in Travel, Tourism
  and/or Hospitality Management get jobs and have
  successful careers in hotels
• The hotel industry is experiencing a recovery
  from the recent recession, with a growing number
  of internships being offered to students and a
  number of companies again initiating their
  manager-in-training positions for our graduates

In conclusion

• If an incoming student thinks they may want
  to work in a hotel we would advise them to major
  in Hotel Lodging rather than in the more
  general Travel, Tourism Hospitality.
