Summary
  • As you can see the elements of culture had
a lot of impact on the Medieval society. The
element that impacted their society the most was
religion. Everything in the society was built
around God and the churches. An example of this
they developed natural law to show how God
ordered the world. So, this is how religion and
other elements of culture impacted the Medieval
    society.

Manga carta causes changes in England
11
Magna carta
  • Magna Carta is a document written by English
nobles and signed by King John listing rights the
    king could not ignore.
  • The document was also called Great Character.

12
Effects of magna carta
  • One effect of Magna Carta was the council
    developed into Parliament.
  • Due to these demands there were many financial
    troubles.
  • Also, everyone, including the king had to obey
    the law.

13
3 demands of magna carta
  • 1. No man shall be forced to perform more service
for a knights fee, or other free holding land,
    than is due from it.
  • 2. Neither we nor any royal official will take
wood for our castle, or for any other purpose,
with out the consent of the owner.
  • 3. In future no official shall place a man on
trial upon his own unsupported statement, without
producing credible witnesses to the truth of it.
  • These demands took away unfair punishments and
    power away from the king.

14
Changes after magna carta
15
Magna carta noble
  • Magna Carta faced war and many troubles, so the
kings turned to a council of nobles for advice
    and money.
  • This is what Magna Carta inspired the noble to
    do.

16
Parliament
  • The council was eventually developed into a
    parliament.
  • A parliament is a lawmaking body that governs
    England.

17
How did the king limit magna carta?
  • The king limited the Magna Carta by choosing the
    judges.
  • Also, the kings couldn't ignore the Magna Carta.

The hundreds year war.
19
The course of the war
  • The Hundreds Years War was a long standing
conflict between England and France during the
    1300s and 1400s.
  • This war lasted for a long time because both
England and France wanted to take over.
  • During the English finally took over.

20
Two men claim throne
  • Both kings of France and England tried to claim
the throne and takeover both countries.
  • This is how the war started between the two
    countries.

    lead in the war.
  • The English invaded France and won many key
    battles.

French troops and turned the tide of the Hundreds
    Years war.

    her.

23
Results in war
24
Changes in England and France
  • In England, the war helped increase the power of
the Parliament because the king needed
Parliaments approval to raise money for the war.
  • This was a change in England.
  • The biggest change in France was they won the
war. Also, after they won the war kings power
    grew a lot.
  • The last thing is that democracy in France had to
    wait.

25
Black death
26
Where it came from
  • The Black Death originally came from central and
    eastern Asia.
  • It swept through Europe for 4 years. (1347-1351)

27
How it spread
  • Traders unknowingly brought rats carrying the
    disease to Mediterranean ports.
  • From there it quickly swept through much of
    Europe.
  • Fleas that fed on infected rats passed on the
    plague to people.
  • Also, the disease was called Bubonic plague.

28
Effect on manor life
  • Historians think the Black Death killed a third
of Europe's population (25 million people). This
    caused many changes throughout Europe.
  • The manor system weakened the growth of cities.
  • Plague survivors found their skills in demand.
Instead of working for the rich, peasants now had
    other job opportunities.

29
What happened to it?
  • The Black Death finally wasnt has bad of a
    sickness for Europeans.
  • So, after the 4 years of the black death
everything was back to normal and the survivors
    had good jobs.
