• Mars Exploration Program (MEP) is a science
  driven program that launches missions to Mars
  every 26 months
• MTP is an integral part of MEP
• MTP develops technologies for near-term and
  future missions
• Near-term missions are supported by MTP via
  Focused Technology Program
• Technologies for future missions are developed
  via the Base Technology Program
• Exploration Strategy is outlined in Mars
  Exploration Strategy Document by Dr. Dan McCleese

• Subsurface Access
• Planetary Protection

• MIDP has already been announced (27 tasks in
  progress)
• The scope of this NRA (03-OSS-01) includes all
  Base Technology elements except MIDP (60
  proposals are selected!)
