Advisory Committee (RAC)
  • Established in 1995 (under the suspended Metro
    Red Line Eastside Project).
  • Community-based 25 active member appointed
    committee that meets on a monthly basis. It is
    organized specifically to review and comment on
    the general status and direction of the
    Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Eastside
    Light Rail Transit Project. 
  • The RAC advocates the community's interests to
    the MTA and government officials.
  • The RAC reviews issues related to the Eastside
    Light Rail Transit Project which include but are
    not limited to environmental and construction
    impacts and mitigation, economic development,
    community linkages opportunities, and financial
    and budgeting issues. 
  • The RAC membership categories are resident
    tenants, resident property owners, businesses,
    community based organizations, religious
    institutions, educational institutions.

Before
  • Metro garnered support of the community and
    avoided extending the tunnel to 3rd Street, 135
    million cost increase, by working with the local
    district on utilizing a portion of their
    property.
  • The school district has environmentally cleared
    the shifting of the school to the east.
  • Station will serve L.A. Music School, 1st Street
    businesses and one of the regions first indoor
    markets at El Mercado.
