shall die in your sins (John 824,28)
  • Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto
you, Before Abraham was, I am (John 858).

The Deity of Christ
GOD, THE WORD (before the flesh)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. The same was in
in the beginning with God. All things were made
by Him and without Him was not anything made
that was made. (John 11-3)
7
The Deity of Christ
GOD, THE WORD (during the flesh)
That which was from the beginning, which we
have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,
which we have looked upon, and our hands have
handled, of the Word of life. And the Word was
made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father,) full of grace and truth. (1 John
11 John 114)
8
The Deity of Christ
GOD, THE WORD (after the flesh)
And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in
blood and His name is called the Word of
God. (John 114)
Conclusion Jesus was God, the Word BEFORE,
DURING, and AFTER the Flesh!

The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • "At the time of his beginning of life he was
created by the everlasting God, Jehovah, without
the aid of instrumentality of any mother. In
other words, he was the first and direct creation
of Jehovah God." (The Kingdom is at Hand, p. 46).
  • "As chief of the angels and next to the Father,
he (Christ) was known as the Archangel (highest
angel or messenger), whose name, Michael,
signifies, 'Who as God' or God's Representative."
(Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. V, p. 84).

10
The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • "...The true Scriptures speak of God's Son, the
Word, as 'a god'. He is a 'mighty God', but not
'the Almighty God, who is Jehovah' - Isaiah 96."
(The Truth Shall Make You Free, p. 47).
  • "...He was the first of Jehovah God's creations."
(Let God Be True, p. 32).

11
The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • "Jesus Was the First Creation by God." (Make Sure
of All Things Hold Fast to What is Fine" p. 282).
  • They cite Colossians 115
  • Firstborn not first thing created
  • Means first in rank, position, privilege
  • See Exodus 422 Psalm 8927

12
The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • "Through Him All Other Things Were Created."
(Make Sure of All Things Hold Fast to What is
    Fine, p. 282).
  • They cite Colossians 116-17
  • The word Other not in Greek Text
  • Found in New World Translation and no other
  • Sinful to add to Gods word (Prov. 305 Deut.
    1232)

13
The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • "Jesus Is Referred to as a Mighty God, but not
Almighty God, Jehovah." (Make Sure of All Things
Hold Fast to What is Fine" p. 282).
  • They cite Isaiah 96
  • They argue no definite article means Jesus was
    a mighty God.
  • No definite article in Isaiah 1021 either!

14
The Deity of Christ
JEHOVAHSWITNESSES SAY
  • In the beginning the word was, and the word was
with God, and the word was a god (NWT).
  • They cite John 11
  • Only the NWT so translates
  • No linguistic or grammatical support for their
    argument
  • See NWT, Jn. 16,12,13,18 theos translated
God, but no definite article NWT IS
    INCONSISTENT!

15
The Deity of Christ
John welch Said
Jesus was a man. He had given up, limited,
surrendered, abdicated, or divested the
privileges, prerogatives, and powers of the
divine Son of God. While upon this earth, he
lived s a man, an ordinary man, not a superman.
John Welch, The Word Was Made Flesh, P. 52.
16
The Deity of Christ
John welch Said
(Concerning Hebrews 57-8) - How could Jesus be
said to have feared. Fear is a human reaction.
Some have argued that Jesus did not truly fear
death as we do and that this passage must be
speaking only of the physical pain of death. Our
fear is not only the pain of dying, but also of
the unknown.... Jesus was a man, he feared death
with all the fulness of fear that mankind knows."
(John Welch, The Abdication of Jesus, The Man
Christ Jesus, p. 67.)
17
The Deity of Christ
John welch Said
"Jesus did not have sure and certain knowledge
of what lay beyond the grave." (John Welch, taped
sermon, Shively, KY, 3/15/90) "He was afraid in
His human capacity, in his capacity as a man. He
was afraid just like you are afraid, and just
like I am afraid sometimes, when I don't know
what to do, when I don't know what to say, when I
am not one hundred percent sure that what I am
saying is right or wrong..... (John Welch, taped
sermon Evansville, IN July 15, 1990)
18
The Deity of Christ
John welch Said
In reference to what the devil said to Jesus in
the temptation, Welch said IF thou be the Son
of God Well, only two people were there that
day. Jesus and the devil...We know the devil
believes and trembles, so who doubted? John
Welch, Taped sermon, Shively Rd., Louisville, KY,
March 15, 1990)
19
The Deity of Christ
JEFF ASHER Said
"There are some brethren who in effect deny the
humanity of Christ by contending that Jesus had
not only the possession but also unlimited access
to and exercise of  the divine attributes.
Brother Welch made it clear that any position
which manifested such a view was error and must
be opposed as heresy (Jeff Asher, Faith and
Facts, 4-94) "Now if brother Bonner wants to
affirm that Jesus in the flesh had unlimited
access to and exercise of the divine attributes,
then I will gladly oppose it as heresy. (Jeff
Asher, Faith and Facts, 10-90)
20
The Deity of Christ
Harry Lewis Said
"My friends, how did Jesus know that he was going
to be raised from the dead? When you preach a
sermon, that you are going to work up a sermon on
the resurrection of Christ, of his death, burial,
and resurrection, would you go back in the Old
Testament and show that the Messiah was going to
suffer those very things. If you though you were
the Messiah, as Jesus did, how would you prove
whether you were or not to a Bible-believing
people? Would you go back into the Old Testament,
delve out the evidence to identify the messiah
and say, Every bit of that fits me and therefore
I am the messiah. That's what Jesus did. He did
not need any divinity, and he did not need any
supernatural guidance to study the Bible, any
more than you and I need it. He studied it and
arrived at the conclusion. (Taped sermon, Harry
Lewis, Evansville IN July 15, 1990)
21
The Deity of Christ
Wayne Greeson Said
"Christ emptied himself of the form of God, that
is the attributes or powers of God, and his
equality with God. (Wayne Greeson, FF, October
1990, pg 83)
22
The Deity of Christ
Jimmy tuten Said
"Jesus forgave sins and worked miracles not by
His own intrinsic powers, but by the authority of
the Father through the Spirit" Cites (Matthew
1228) (Jimmy Tuten, Faith and Facts, 1995, page
44) Tuten went on to say that Christ gave up
his powers, privileges, and prerogatives when he
came to the earth.
23
The Deity of Christ
Ronny Milliner Said
When Jesus came to this earth he emptied
himself of his privileges. (Ronny Milliner,
Faith and Facts, 1995, page 49) Commenting On
Mark 1433-34 "We are told that he 'began to be
sorrowful and sore troubled. It seems that a
sudden wave of emotion swept over his soul and
almost engulfed him in sorrow. The expression,
'sore troubled,' has been defined by Bishop
Lightfoot as meaning a 'confused, restless,
half-distracted state which is produced by
physical derangement or mental stress. (Quoted
by Ronny Milliner, the man Christ Jesus, p. 213)
24
The Deity of Christ
MAX LUCADO SAYs
"Now, look into the picture. Look closely
through the shadowy foliage. See that person? See
that solitary figure? What's he doing? Flat on
the ground. Face stained with dirt and tears.
Fists pounding the hard earth. Eyes wide with a
stupor of fear. Hair matted with salty sweat. Is
that blood on his forehead? That's Jesus. Jesus
in the Garden of Gethsemane. ... Does this look
like the picture of a saintly Jesus resting in
the palm of God? Hardly. ... We see an agonizing,
straining, and struggling Jesus. We see a 'man of
sorrows.' We see a man struggling with fear,
wrestling with commitments, and yearning for
relief." (Emphasis added.) Max Lucado, No Wonder
They Call Him the Savior (Multnomah,
1986199ppgs, pp. 131-132)

38
The Deity of Christ
HOW MUCH DID JESUS KNOW?
It is to be observed further that Jesus was not
a man in a child's body. His mind developed as
his body grew larger and stronger. He grew by use
of means - grew physically by taking proper
exercise, wholesome food, and restful sleep grew
in wisdom and grace by asking questions, studying
the scriptures, and exercise of mind and
soul."(H Leo Boles, Quoted by Ronny Milliner,
"The Son of Man," Faith and Facts, October, 1990,
p. 308.)
39
The Deity of Christ
HOW MUCH DID JESUS KNOW?
The scriptures say that Jesus was sitting in the
midst of the doctors, both hearing them and
asking them questions. And all that heard him
were astonished at his understanding and answers
(Luke 246-47). Jesus was not, as some people
aver, teaching the doctors of the law, but was
learning from them, by listening and asking
questions. Those that heard his questions, and
how he answered questions put to him by these
elder scholars of the law, were no doubt quite
impressed with the quick understanding and
perception in one of such tender years."(Jeffery
Kingry, Quoted by Ronny Milliner, "The Son of
Man," Faith and Facts, October, 1990)
40
The Deity of Christ

TWO PASSAGES USED AS SUGARSTICKS And Jesus
increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor
with God and man (Luke 252). Though he were a

he suffered (Hebrews 58).
