Outline of Young Writers Workshop
  • Software Program allowing students to develop
    factual and creative writing skills through the
    creation of their journalist character, and the
    writing of various stories and news articles
  • Students write captions, broadcasts, and reports
    for newspapers and magazines, including
    interviews, advertisements, and plays

  • Student becomes a journalist for a radio news
    program
  • Must write factual and fictional broadcasts on a
    variety of topics
  • Teleprompter with 3 speeds allows students to
    experience what it is like to be a real reporter,

  • Compose an article for a newspaper or a magazine
  • Student chooses their topic, and writes the
    article using references located in the library
    or by surfing the internet for photos and
    information

    so students feel like real writers

  • Students become engaged in technology and can
    break away from paper and pencil, engaging them

    through the program, so each student can find
    something that interests them
  • Teachers can easily review student work to
    monitor student progress over time
