Why is rabies important?
  • Rabies is entirely preventable through
    vaccination.
  • Rabies kills at least 55,000 people annually, or
    one person every 10 minutes.
  • Rabies impacts animal health and welfare.
  • Sustained elimination of dog-to-dog transmission
    of rabies has been demonstrated over large
    geographic areas.
  • The methodical use of proven techniques can lead
    to global elimination of the major source of
    human rabies.
