  • Annual earnings for workers age 25-64 increase
    substantially with more education.
  • Workers with masters degrees earn an average of
    62,300 annually as compared with those with
    bachelors degrees, who earn 52,000 annually.

    deadlines as late as July 1 for the fall semester

  • Apply Simple Relaxation Exercises before the test

  • Research indicates that students who adhere to a
    set schedule of self-review and those who sign up
    for longer review programs seem to achieve the

  • ü      Once the application submitted, a
    postcard/e-mail confirming receipt is returned to
    the applicant

    Graduate Admissions and sent to appropriate
    department for decision

    essay
  • Consider your educational and career goals
  • Reflect on your experience, skills, and interests
  • Develop paragraphs purposefully-make every word
    count.
  • Be succinct
  • Back up claims with facts/evidence

  • Strive for a thoughtful, honest essay that will
    give readers a sense of who you are, and why you
    want to pursue the particular program.
  • Keep in mind, the reader does not know you.
  • Proofread carefully!

Various Degree Requirements
  • Thesis vs. Non-thesis Requirements
  • Thesis option programs require students to write
    a significant-sized research paper.
  • Non-thesis programs usually require students to
    take additional course work.
  • Practicums, comprehensive exams, or internships
    may be required in some fields.
  • Masters programs require between 30-56 credits
    and can take on average 1-2 years to complete.
  • All FAU PhD Programs require dissertations and
    usually take 4-6 years beyond the masters to
    complete.

International Students
  • May need to have international transcripts
    evaluated by an approved NACES evaluation
    service.
  • Will need a minimum TOEFL score of at least
    173/500.
  • Must certify a total of 35,773 for one year of
    study at FAU.

Once you are in, now what?
  • Keep in mind, you have five years to complete a
    masters degree and seven to complete a doctoral
    degree. Ideally, you should try to complete it
    as quickly as possible.
