2 WASHINGTON SQUARE VILLAGE VOICE
November 2003
Hey 2WSV! Another month has past, which means
the semester is nearly over. I dont know about
you, but that makes me pretty happy (and a little
scared)! Things probably arent quite as hectic
as they were a month ago, but with finals and
term papers looming large, we havent made it
through the storm yet. Anyway, youve made it
this far and you should be really proud of
yourself. In this months newsletter youll find
some info on up coming events and important news,
but mostly, youll get to meet a few more of your
neighbors. I didnt have enough room to
spotlight all the people I interviewed, so look
for spotlights of Alyssa Rademan and Silvano
Zhang in the December newsletter. That being
said, lets find out who I had on my couch this
month (in a totally non-dirty way) Take
care! Yuri

  • Marco Muller
  • At NYU by way of Bonn, Germany, Marco is a
    visiting scholar from Rheinische Frie
Drich-Wilhelms Universitat Bonn. (Did I spell it
right Marco?) Hes here working on his MA is
Journalism. However, in Germany, Marco is
pursuing Media Studies, with a minor in
    Psychology and American Language Literature.
(Does anyone else find it interesting that one
    can study American Language?)
  • He may sound like a regular Joe, but Marco is in
fact a TOTAL GENIUS! This is evidenced by his
being the one student in his university selected
to participate in a fully funded exchange program
with NYU. (If Marco were a Trojan, Id say Fight
    On!)
  • Since coming to the states, Marco has done quite
a bit of traveling. Hes been to San Diego (but
left before the fires started), Los Angeles and
Las Vegas. Vying for the distinction of his
favorite place in the US are the Getty (totally
awesome if you havent been there, defiantly
check it out) and the Stratosphere in Vegas.
  • Marco has quite a few opinions on
  • the US and NYC in general,
  • especially when if comes to
  • whats unusual. Some of the
  • things he finds
  • questionable are
  • Cold drinks! Apparently
  • Marco doesnt like how
  • much ice is put into Coke at
  • restaurants.
  • Revolving doors! (NYC is a little

Important Info
James Jim Padilla
If youre not coming back to NYU in the Spring,
for whatever reason, now is the time to left the
University know. Go to Central Housing at 8
Washington Place for more info and the forms
youll need. But remember, there are restrictions
on who can be released from their housing
contracts.
I hope she doesnt say anything that will
embarrass me.
Spring Registration is almost upon us. It starts
Nov 17th. You can pick up a Schedule of Classes
at the Information Center. Dont forget, most
Grad programs require advisement, so make an
appointment with your advisor soon!
Im really going to stick it to this guy! (j/k)
Jim is a totally cool guy, especially given that
I left him waiting on my couch (not literally,
as I dont have a couch because we in 2WV are not
authorized to bring in furniture) for 15 minutes.
Anyway, heres a little info to help you get to
know Jim
Anybody staying in residence over Thanksgiving
and Winter Break should let me know. Look for
more info on how to do this in the coming weeks.
Hometown Santa Clarita, CA (currently not on
fire!) Ed history BA in History from Loyola
Marymount University in beautiful Marina Del Rey,
CA (LA for those of you who think of LA county as
the city of LA.) Before starting at NYU, Jim
took a year off to work as a planning technician
for the City of Santa Clarita. ( He tried to
explain what this meant to me, but Im dense. So,
if you want to know what a planning technician
is/does, ask Jim!)

Jim continued-
  • Now that hes here, Jim is working to get a
Masters in International Relations through the
Politics department of GSAS. This educational
pursuit was spurred by his doing a study abroad
program in Italy during undergrad, where he got a
taste of diplomacy. (I certainly hope he didnt
actually taste a diplomat, but he does kind of
    seem like anever mind.)
  • A couple of interesting things Jim has done since
    moving to NYC are
  • Going to the Rose Center for Earth and Space in
the American Museum of Natural History. (a.k.a.
    the Planetarium)
  • Going to Madison Square Gardens for a Rangers
    game.
  • One thing hed like to do in NYC is
  • Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in a non-disaster
    related situation.
