metaphor for the world. The front of the medal
always depicts the same imagery at the summer
Games - the Greek Goddess of Sport - Nike -

and arriving in London.

ceremony organised by the Hellenic Olympic
Committee (HOC) to light the Olympic Flame was
held inside the Temple of Hera at the historic
ruins of the home of the ancient Olympic Games.

Priestess using a parabolic mirror to reflect the
rays of the sun. The ceremony organised by the
Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) to light the
