    of Americans in many ways.

  • Consequently we Americans find ourselves
    searching for answers to many questions.

  • A topic of interest for social studies educators
    is how young people feel and what they think
    about these difficult issues.

    military response?

  • In an effort to explore young peoples thoughts
    and feelings we conducted a survey of 26 college
    students.

  • We asked various questions about students
    knowledge of and feelings about Afghanistan, the
    Taliban, and U.S. Military response.

  • Age range of respondents 18-50
  • 84.62 were age 18-25
  • Freshman 19.23
  • Sophomores 23.08
  • Juniors 23.08
  • Seniors 34.62

  • 46.15 of respondents were female
  • 53.85 of respondents were male

  • The following are the survey questions as they
    were presented to respondents with the
    corresponding percentages of answers.

  • 69.23 of respondents felt they would be able to
    locate Afghanistan on a map.
  • 26.92 reported being unable to locate
    Afghanistan.
  • 3.85 were unsure.

  • 34.62 of respondents feel that Pakistan supports
    the U.S.
  • 38.46 feel that Pakistan does not support the
    U.S.
