Biography
  • Donald C. Stemple was born on May 3rd 1928, in
    Aurora W.V. Son of Earl C. Stemple and Dora C.
    Stemple. His brothers and sisters are Charles
    William, Melvin, Mildred, Madge, and Margaret.
    His wifes name was Elizabeth A. Knotts Stemple.
    He had 5 children their names are Donald Scott,
    Jeffery Bryon, Sharon Harsh, Roger Stemple, Beth
    B. Bishop.

  • In 1929 the Great Depression began. In 1939
    World War II began. In 1941 the US enters World
    War II. In 1944 Congress passed the Gl Bill, in
    1945 the United Nations is founded. In 1949 the
    NATO is formed, in 1949 television sales reached
    10,000 per week. In 1950 the Korean War begins.
    In 1952 Dwight Eisenhower is elected president.

Describe the recreation available growing up?
  • They played ball softball, basketball, cards,
    and pitched horseshoes. Mainly that was it.

What are some of the most interesting memories
you have growing up?
  • Well probably the way we use to farm with
    horses and we got tractors making hay and just
    plain out farming.

What event in history do you remember most and
why?
  • Well I was drafted in the army in 1950 and
    served 18 months in Korea during war and got out
    in 1952.
