German Begin WWII
  • Adolf Hitler the German leader encourage German
    people to invade more land, so Germany could
    become super power and power race.
  • England France told Hitler to stop invading
    other countries.
  • Hitler broke promise and invaded Norway.

The Holocaust
  • Systematic murder of 11 million people in Europe
    and more than half were Jewish.
  • To identify Jewish, Nazi attached yellow David
    star on every Jewish persons cloth.
  • German killed many races beside German because he
    wanted German race to be powerful in world.

Stalin and Soviet Union
  • Stalin played big roll during 1930s.
  • He made Soviet Union industrial country from
    rural country.
  • Stalin firmly established totalitarian government
    that maintained complete control over its citizen.

  • After invading Poland, Hitler started to invading
    Soviet Union.
  • Soviet Union and Hitler signed non- aggression
    act.( not to attack each other.)

Italy Enter the War
  • Although, Benito Mussolini's, the great dictator
    of Italy, described German-Italian alliance as
    an "Axis of Blood and Steel", he responded to the
    German invasion by declaring Italy neutral and a
    "non-belligerent".
  • On June 10, 1940, as the French government fled
    to Bordeaux, Mussolini felt the conflict would
    soon end and declared war on Britain and France
    aiming to expand the Italian colonies in North
    Africa which was taken by British and French
    colonies.

  • Pearl Harbor was the largest U.S. naval base in
    pacific.
  • That forced U.S. enter the war.

  • America joined war in 1941.
  • American economy went up because many people
    started working in factories of production that
    is used in war.
  • Many African-American and Mexicans joined army to
    fight in war.

  • During WWII army had better weapons to fight.
  • Atomic bomb was invented during WWII by America
    to attack Japan.
  • The inventor was a US Army officer called Skinner
    who had been known for experimenting with mortars
    and rockets.

HIROSHIMA UNDER ATTACK!
  • America attack Japan as a revenge because Japan
    attacked Pearl Harbor.
  • America drop atomic bomb at Hiroshima in Japan.
  • It killed 80,000 people and destroyed 80 of the
    city and plus 60,000 people died because of
    injuries and radiation poisoning in Hiroshima.

NAGASAKI UNDER ATTACK!!
  • Nagasaki second Japanese city that was attacked
    by Atomic Bomb on August 9, 1945.
  • About 70,000 of Nagasaki's 240,000 residents were
    killed instantly.
  • 60,000 people were injured.
  • The code of attack was FAT MAN.

The Battle Of The Atlantic
  • The Germans aim to prevent food and war materials
    reaching Great Britain and the Soviet Union.
  • Hitler knows that the long shipping lane from
    North America is Britain lifeline and if he cut
    that off then Britain would starved into
    submission.
  • German sank 87 American ships in Atlantic and in
    seven month Germans have destroyed total 681
    allied ship.

The North Africa Front
  • The American General Dwight D. Eisenhower
    commanded Operation Torch the invasion of
    Axis-controlled in North Africa.
  • In November 1942, some 107,000 allied troops,
    mostly Americans landed in Casablanca, Oran, and
    Algiers in N. Africa.

D-DAY
  • 3 million American , British, and Canadians
    troops planned to invade Normandy in northern
    France.
  • On June 6,1944, the first day of invasion.
  • 8,000 men died on D-Day.

The Allies Gain Power
  • After seven days of fighting, the allied held an
    80-miles strips of France.
  • In a month they have landed millions of troops
    and 567,000 tons of supplies and 170,000 vehicles
    in France.

Battle Of The Bulge
  • In October 1944, Americans captured the first
    German town, Aachen.
  • The Germans have lost 120,000 troops, 600 tanks
    and assault guns, and 1,600 planes in battle of
    the Bulge.
  • It was the turning point of the WWII.

V-E DAY
  • General Eisenhower accepted the unconditional
    surrender of the third Reich.
  • On May 8,1945 the Allied celebrated V-E DAY.(
    the Victory in Europe Day.)
  • The war was Finally over in Europe.

Roosevelts Death
  • President Roosevelt did not live to see the V-E
    Day.
  • On April 12, 1945, while posing for portrait in
    Warm Spring, Georgia, the president had stroke
    and died.
  • That night Vice president Harry S. Truman became
    33rd President of U.S.
