Title: Choosing Your Eagle Project and The Eagle Project Approval Process

1
Choosing Your Eagle Projectand The Eagle Project
Approval Process
  • AKA The Two Hardest Steps to Becoming an Eagle
    Scout
  • (and they dont have to be!!)

2
Choosing Your Project
  • Step 1 Think about something you are really
interested in (just a general topic)
  • Helping People
  • Helping Children
  • Helping Animals
  • Helping Your Church
  • Helping Your School
  • Helping City/County/Parks
  • Make sure it is something that really lights your
fire that you feel passionate about. This will
make it easier for you to want to do the project.

3
Choosing Your Project
  • Step 2 Write down some agencies/organizations
that fall under the area you are interested in
  • Helping Children
  • Childrens Shelter
  • Childrens Hospital
  • Youth Group
  • Playground in a City Park or Church
  • Helping Animals
  • Animal Shelter
  • City or State Park
  • Zoo
  • Stipulations are it must be a Non-Profit
Organization and cannot be for an individual,
cannot be a fundraiser and it cannot be for BSA

4
Choosing Your Project
  • Step 3 Decide on your Top Area and the Top 2
or 3 organizations that you like
  • Helping Children
  • Childrens Shelter
  • Childrens Hospital
  • Playground at My Church
  • Call the organizations and Tell them who you are
and why you are calling. ASK them if they have a
Project in mind that you might be able to carry
    out for them.

5
Choosing Your Project
  • Remember
  • The project cannot be general maintenance or
    something done routinely
  • It needs to be something where you can lead a
group in doing the project Remember it is a
    Leadership Project
  • It must be of enough magnitude (size or scope)
that you get the opportunity to show Leadership
  • Project itself can not be a fundraiser, and can
not benefit BSA or a commercial business
  • It does not have to be building something
  • Anyone can work on the project with you

6
Choosing Your Project
  • Step 4 Decide Which Project you would most like
to do and go talk with the organization and
    get the CONCEPT Approved
  • Find out exactly what they want done
  • Develop the concept (Part One of the Eagle
Project Workbook) and show it to them to make
sure you both agree on what they want done
  • Sketches and/or Pictures to help visualize the
    idea
  • Talk with your Scoutmaster and/or Eagle Advisor
about the project and show them the concept
  • Get Scoutmaster/Eagle Advisor Approval of Concept
  • Take your Concept to the Eagle District Project
    Approval Board 2nd Monday (Recommended)
