Housing in Scotland/Belgium
  • Finding housing is the responsibility of the
    student.

    ultimate responsibility falls on you.
  • If you plan ahead of time, contact the interns
that are there, and communicate with potential
landlords, you will not have any problems.

8
Funding Opportunities
Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh
  • All BYU scholarships and Pell Grants can be
    applied to program costs.
  • The Mary Lou Fulton Intern Chair Grant is
available to students of the College of Family,
Home and Social Sciences. Any other grant is
    applicable as well.
  • Once you are accepted to the program, you will
automatically be considered for a small ISP
scholarship of between 100 and 500.

9
Common Concerns
  • Q What if I dont know that much about Scotland
    or Belgium?
  • A All interns will take a one credit preparation
course during the second block of the semester to
    prepare them for the internship.

10
  • Q How competitive is the program?
  • A While the program is competitive, a little
more than 50 of the applicants are accepted.
  • While a great GPA is helpful, it is definitely
    not the determining factor. Apply!

11
Q Is there a language requirement?A No!
However, if you do speak a European language it
may help you work for a foreign language-speaking
member of the European Parliament. Previous
interns have worked with Finnish, Spanish, and
Estonian MEPs.
12
  • Q Can I bring my spouse?
  • A Yes! Children are also welcome.

13
Application Requirements

appropriate deadline (October 1 for winter,
February for spring and fall), you need to submit
    the following
  • a letter of intent
  • a resume
  • two letters of recommendation (give to front desk
    in 280 HRCB)
  • a writing sample
  • ABC Report/transcript
  • 25 application fee

14
Prep Course
  • IAS 360R section 6
