Movie Maker

• First take out your handouts labeled
• Using Movie Maker

Getting Started

• Your handout gives a detailed explanation on how
  to use Movie Maker. But I dont expect you to
  read the whole thing.

• Movie Maker is very easy to use. To perform most
  tasks simply click and drag to the desired
  location.

• Before you start let me give you a quick overview
  of Movie Maker.

Things to know

• To access your photos click on the Import
  Pictures link. Your Pictures will show up in
  Collections

• The side panel on your screen has a long list of
  commands. The commands that you need to make
  your self familiar with are
• Import Pictures
• View Video Effects
• View Video Transitions
• Make Titles and Credits

Import Pictures

• This is how you will load the pictures from your
  file to the program
• Your pictures will show up in Collections

View Video Effects

• This is where you an add visual effect to your
  film. Each picture can have a different visual
  effect if you like.
• You can also add more than one visual effect to a
  single picture

View Visual Transition

• This is where you choose how you would like to
  transition from picture to picture.
• You can only add a transition between to
  consecutive pictures.
• So I suggest that you line up all of your
  pictures in the story board first before you
  begin to add transitions.

Making Titles and Credits

• This is pretty self-explanatory. Just follow the
  directions and choose the options that you want.

• WE WILL NOT BE USING THE AUTOMOVIE OPTION.
• It takes the fun out of movie making. We want you
  all to be creative and enjoy this activity.

• To add sound click on microphone on the toolbar
  located on the left above your story board.
• Remember that you cannot record one track on top
  of another. So you must make sure that your
  tracks dont over lap in the timeline.

• By clicking on the microphone, your timeline
  takes the place of your story board.
• You can always change it back by clicking on
  Show Story Board

Timeline

• Your timeline shows the content of your movie at
  every moment
• Pictures
• Audio tracks
• Transitions
• Titles. Credits
• YOUR TIMELINE SHOWS IT ALL

Timeline

• Your timeline is much like a workspace. You can
  rearrange your pictures, edit the amount of time
  given to each picture, edit the audio tracks and
  change the length of your movie.

Important Tips

• If you want to keep your transitions do not shift
  the pictures so that they no longer overlap
• The default time for each slide is 5 seconds
• (of course you can always change this)
• It may be easier to synchronize your audio track
  to a specific slide if you create short audio
  tracks for 1- 3 slides
• To delete anything, simply right click on it and
  scroll to the red X.

• You will have approx. 30 minutes to make your
  movie.
• The teachers are here for your assistance If you
  have any questions raise your hand.
• Remember, there is no such thing as a STUPID
  question.

• CLICK AND DRAG. Thats the key to using Movie
  Maker.
