Title: Short, Medium and Long terms goals

1
Short, Medium and Long terms goals
  • The goals depends upon the availability of
    resources and vice versa.
  • Short term goals can be defined based on the
    presently available human resources.
  • Medium and long term goals can be defined as per
the societys requirement. However, the human
resource capability has to be built to achieve
    these goals.
  • For economical and timely production of map data,
some of the jobs may be outsourced. SOI will be
    responsible for uniform standards, quality,
accuracy and proper archival and dissemination of
    such data.
  • Sufficient delegation of powers are necessary for
    achieving the goals.

2
Short Term Goals (Till March 2011)
  • To make the updated OSM/ DSM sheets on 150,000
scale ready for dissemination. It includes

    150K scale.
  • To update/compile 1250K sheets from latest
    updated 150K sheets.
  • To continue mapping on 125K.
  • To resolve all the policy issues for liberalizing
    the access of geo-spatial data.
  • To establish new vertical and horizontal control
    network (project in hand).
  • To continue mapping of already committed major
projects like NUIS, DSSDI, 3-D Mapping (NIC),

    required for this purpose.

3
Medium Term Goals (Till March 2014)

of 150k and 1250K OSM/DSM sheets from latest
125K data for those sheets where the changes are
    heavy from previous edition.

enlarged scheme of further townships and 110K
scale or larger scales mapping on project basis

project basis for river basin areas, coastal
areas, disaster prone areas etc. and 3D mapping
    for metros.
  • To establish service portal to share the SOI data
with authorized users and to make maximum use of
    the web based technologies.
  • To establish in house capability for aerial
photography or strong tie up with the companies
