• The NJSBDC network of service providers and
  partners is in the knowledge business, tapping
  best practices and business intelligence from the
  public and private sector to counsel, train and
  educate established and aspiring small business
  owners so that they can compete more effectively
  in the domestic and global economies.

Services

The NJSBDC network--consisting of 11 full service
Regional Centers, 18 affiliate offices and
statewide Specialty Programs--provides free
counseling and affordable training to help NJ
small business owners and entrepreneurs start,
market, manage and finance their ventures.

Return on Investment

• In 2001, the 500,000 invested by the NJ Commerce
  and Economic Growth Commission in NJSBDC
• combined with the funds from the NJ Department of
  Labor, NJ Commission on Science and Technology,
  our host educational institutions and the private
  sector to leverage 2,344,678 from the U.S. Small
  Business Administration.

NJSBDC Consulting

• The NJSBDC network provided free one-on-one
  management consulting to 6,418 New Jersey
  entrepreneurs and small business owners in 2001.
  Thats 18.47 more clients than in 2000.

NJSBDC Training

• In 2001, the NJSBDC network sponsored 724
  business development training events. All told,
  14,237 NJ entrepreneurs received training on a
  wide variety of management, marketing, financing
  and technology issues.

High-Tech Services

• Through a toll-free 800 number and comprehensive
  technology commercialization counseling, the
  NJSBDC Technology Commercialization Program
  assisted thousands of scientists, engineers and
  inventors to introduce new technologies. This
  year tech clients were helped to raise 600K in
  grants.

NJSBDC Online

• The NJSBDCs Information Services Center web site
  www.yourbizpartner.com received unique visits
  from more than 90,000 prospective and established
  business owners. The site actively promotes
  NJSBDC counseling, training services and
  information tools.

NJSBDC Assistance with SBA Economic Injury
Disaster Loans
The NJSBDC network has been the primary source
for information and assistance in EIDL packaging
in NJ. Most of fourth quarter reporting is not
included, but we know of at least 46 applications
for 8.5 million resulting in 15 approvals of 3
million through March 1, 2002.
